2008 World Outdoor Bowls Championship
The 2008 World Outdoor Bowls Championship was held at the Burnside Bowling Club in Christchurch, New Zealand, from 12 to 24 January 2008. Safuan Said won the men's singles Gold. David Peacock (bowls)
David Craig Peacock (born 30 January 1970) is a Scottish international lawn and indoor bowler. Bowls career Peacock won the 2002 Hong Kong International Bowls Classic singles title. He claimed the triples gold medal at the 2004 World Outdoor Bowls Championship with Jim McIntyre and Willie Wood. Four years later he repeated the success when winning the triples at the 2008 World Outdoor Bowls Championship with Wayne Hogg and Willie Wood. In 2011 he won the pairs bronze medal at the Atlantic Bowls Championships. The following year he won his third World Championship gold in the triples at the 2012 World Outdoor Bowls Championship with Graeme Archer and Darren Burnett, he also won a fours bronze medal. Wayne William Turley (born 2 November 1972) is an Australian international lawn and indoor bowler. Bowls career In 2006 he won a gold medal in the men's triples at the 2006 Commonwealth Games. He won a silver medal four years later at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi. In between he won a silver medal at the 2008 World Outdoor Bowls Championship. William 'Bill' John Cornehls (born 1960) is a former Australian international lawn bowler. Bowls career Cornehls won the Australian Singles Championship in 2000. He won a gold medal in the inaugural triples competition at the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Victoria (Australia) with Mark Casey and Wayne Turley. Hirendra Bhartu (born May 14, 1958) is a Canadian professional indoor and lawn bowler from Suva, Fiji. He has won nine Canadian national titles in Men's Singles and Pairs as well as Mixed Pairs. Bowls career Hirendra began his lawn bowling career at Nanaimo Lawn Bowling Club in 1995. In 2006, after honing his talent for indoor bowls at the Pacific Indoor Club in Vancouver, BC, he catapulted onto the international lawn bowling scene by soundly defeating his Canadian counterparts in all 4 of the Canadian PBA qualifiers in order to play in the World Bowls Tour.
