Satoko Shinashi
is a female Japanese mixed martial artist. She is a former DEEP Flyweight champion and former Smackgirl Flyweight champion. She is tied second for the most bouts among women and is considered as one of the pioneers of women's mixed martial arts. Background Influenced by her father, Shinashi started training judo at the age of 15, stopping the discipline after graduating from Nippon Sport Science University at 22. She then started competing in sambo, in which she excelled in international competition. Mixed martial arts career After a short amateur career, Shinashi turned pro in 2001. Smackgirl Racking an undefeated record of 4–0–1 in her first five bouts, she entered Smackgirl 2002 Lightweight tournament in late 2002. Miku Matsumoto
, born June 26, 1981, is a female Japanese mixed martial artist. She retired as the DEEP Women's Lightweight (106-Pound) Champion in 2010. Growing up, Matsumoto studied piano and penmanship and was not interested in sports. She began training in MMA as a part-time job to kill time and save money after studying overseas, but went on to become one of the most successful female mixed martial artists in the world. On February 28, 2010 at DEEP: 46th Impact, Matsumoto confirmed weeks of speculation by announcing that she would be retiring from mixed martial arts. She officially retired following an exhibition match with Megumi Fujii at DEEP: 47th Impact on April 17, 2010. Seichi Ikemoto
is a Japanese mixed martial artist. He is a veteran of Shooto, PRIDE and DEEP. His specialty is a "double punch", in which he puts his hands together and throws them at his opponent. Biography and career Ikemoto is a former holder of the DEEP Welterweight championship, which he obtained by defeating Hidehiko Hasegawa at DEEP 36 via unanimous decision. He lost the title by dropping a unanimous decision to Yuya Shirai at DEEP 45 in January 2010. Ikemoto was a participant in the Dream Welterweight Grand Prix and lost his first-round matchup against Marius Zaromskis by unanimous decision at Dream.8. Osaka Prefectural Gymnasium
is an indoor sporting arena located in Namba, Osaka, Japan. It first opened in 1952 and the current building was constructed in 1987. It is the venue of a professional sumo tournament (honbasho) held in March every year. The capacity of the arena is 8,000 people. Its total revenue for the 2006 fiscal year was 260 million yen, of which sumo provided 80 million. In April 2008 the Japan Sumo Association made clear its surprise at plans by the prefectural government to demolish the gymnasium and sell the vacant lot. In March 2012, the arena was renamed after the naming rights were sold to sports apparel company BB Sports for the next three years. Korakuen Hall
is a famous sports arena in Bunkyo, Tokyo, Japan, which has hosted many notable boxing, professional wrestling, kickboxing, mixed martial arts and Lethwei matches. History On April 16, 1962, the Korakuen Hall was officially opened with a capacity of approximately 2,000 people. It is located inside the Tokyo Dome City, one of Tokyo's biggest attractions. The venue hosted the boxing events for the 1964 Summer Olympics.
