2008 African Futsal Championship
The 2008 African Futsal Championship took place in Tripoli, Libya from 21 March to 30 March 2008. The tournament served as a qualifying tournament for the 2008 FIFA Futsal World Cup in Brazil. The tournament was contested by ten teams, split into two groups of five. Group A was contested of hosts Libya, along with Cameroon, Morocco, Nigeria and Tunisia, while Group 2 consisted of Angola, Egypt, Mozambique, South Africa and Zambia. The matches were played at two venues in Tripoli: Cortuba and African Union. Africa Futsal Cup Of Nations
The Total Africa Futsal Cup of Nations (previously known as the African Futsal Championship) is the main national futsal competition of the Confederation of African Football nations. It was first held in 1996 and has been played every four years. It is a qualification to FIFA Futsal World Cup. On 6 August 2015, the CAF Executive Committee decided to change the name of the tournament from the African Futsal Championship to the Africa Futsal Cup of Nations, similar to the football's version, Africa Cup of Nations. Only 3 teams managed to win the cup since its foundation, with Egypt being the most successful team with 3 titles, followed by Morocco with two. Libya has won it once. 2008 FIFA Futsal World Cup
The 2008 FIFA Futsal World Cup was the sixth edition of the FIFA Futsal World Cup, the quadrennial international futsal championship contested by the men's national teams of the member associations of FIFA. It was the first tournament to use the term "World Cup". It was held between 30 September and 19 October 2008 in Brazil. It was the only Futsal World Cup to feature 20 teams. The Egyptian national futsal team represents Egypt during international futsal competitions. It is governed by the Egyptian Football Association and won the Africa Futsal Cup of Nations a record three times. They have also represented Africa in the FIFA Futsal World Cup, with seven appearances.
