World Archery Championships
The World Archery Championships are a series of competitions in Archery organised by the World Archery Federation (WA). The first competition held under that title took place in 1931. Competition archery takes a wide variety of formats, but the title World Championships is commonly reserved for the following three events: # Outdoor World Championships in target Archery # Indoor World Championships in target Archery # World Championships in field Archery. Of these, the Outdoor World Championships in target Archery is most commonly referred to as simply the 'World Archery Championships', and the winners most commonly referred to as simply "world champions". Events in those outdoor championships are held involving fixed targets at set distances, using a variety of bows, the recurve bow from 1931 and the compound bow since 1995. Marco Galiazzo
Marco Galiazzo (born 7 May 1983, in Padova) is an athlete from Italy. He competes in archery for C.S. Aeronautica Militare, and is a former world number one. He was the first Olympic champion in the Italian archery history, winner of the gold medal in men's individual competition at Olympic Games – Athens 2004 and gold medal in team competition at the Olympic Games – London 2012 (in the same event he won silver at the Olympic Games – Beijing 2008). Career Galiazzo started to shoot at the age of thirteen, together with his father, who later became his coach. Michele Frangilli (born 1 May 1976) is an Italian archer. Biography He was born in Gallarate. He competed at the 1996 Summer Olympics in men's individual archery, finishing in 6th place and winning the bronze medal in the team event.
