2007 Italian Formula Three Season
The 2007 Italian Formula Three Championship was the 43rd Italian Formula Three Championship season. It began on 1 April at Adria and ended on 21 October at Monza after 16 races. With victories at Adria, Misano, Vallelunga and Autodromo Nazionale Monza, Paolo Maria Nocera of Lucidi Motors finished the season as champion. He finished 21 points clear of Europa Corse driver Efisio Marchese, who won three races during the season. Third place went to Alan Racing driver Pablo Sánchez López, who also took three victories at Misano, Mugello, and Varano. Fourth place in the championship was claimed by Corbetta Competizioni's Mirko Bortolotti, who won the race at Mugello, while fifth went to his team-mate Fabrizio Crestani. The Italian Formula Three Championship was the Formula Three racing competition in Italy. History Formula Three has traditionally been regarded as the first major stepping stone for F1 hopefuls - it is typically the first point in a driver's career at which most drivers in the series are aiming at professional careers in racing rather than being amateurs and enthusiasts. Success in F3 can lead directly to more senior formulae such as GP2, A1 Grand Prix, or even a Formula One test or race seat. Most notably in the late 1980s and early 1990s, the Italian F3 championship produced drivers who graduated to Formula One to varying success. In motorsport, the fastest lap is the quickest lap run during a race. Some racing series, like Formula One, Formula 2 and Formula E award championship points for a driver or team that set the fastest lap. Sergey Mokshantsev (born 22 January 1978) is a Russian racing driver from Moscow. After karting, he began his auto racing career in the Formula RUS series in 2006. He continued in the series in 2007 as well as making his debut in the Italian Formula Three Championship. He moved to the Italian Formula Master series in 2008 and competed in 2 races in the International Formula Master Series as well in addition to completing the Russian Formula Three Championship and placing 6th.
