2005–06 Iran Pro League
The 2005–06 Iran Pro League was the 23rd season of Iran's Football League and fifth as Iran Pro League since its establishment in 2001. Foolad were the defending champions. The season featured 14 teams from the 2004–05 Iran Pro League and two new teams promoted from the 2004–05 Azadegan League: Shahid Ghandi as champions and Rah Ahan as runner-up. The league started on 2 September 2005 and ended on 21 April 2006. Esteghlal won the Pro League title for the first time in their history (total sixth Iranian title). Iran Pro League
The Persian Gulf Pro League ( fa, لیگ برتر خلیج فارس, ''Lig-e Bartar-e Xalij-e Fârs''), formerly known as the Iran Pro League ( fa, links=no, لیگ برتر ایران, ''Lig-e bartar-e Irân''), is the highest division of professional football in Iran. It is the top-level football league in Iran since its foundation. Each year, its top team becomes the Iranian football champion, and the two lowest finishers are relegated to Azadegan League. Since 2013, the league comprises 16 teams. The winner and runner-up of the Persian Gulf Pro League along with the Hazfi Cup champion are automatically qualified for the AFC Champions League group stages. The third of the Persian Gulf Pro League is qualified for the AFC Champions League Play-off round. The bottom two teams in the league are relegated to Azadegan League. The 2006–07 Persian Gulf Cup (also known as Iran Pro League) was the 24th season of Iran's Football League and sixth as Iran Pro League since its establishment in 2001. Esteghlal were the defending champions. Shahid Ghandi Yazd
Shahid Ghandi Yazd Football Club is an Iranian football team based in Yazd, Iran. They have played the most times in thrde Azadegan League. The team was heavily supported by the people of Yazd, and was Yazd's first team in the highest football league in Iran. They entered to the Iran Pro League only one season in 2005–06. Now this team is playing in League 2 (Iran), the second division of Iran's football pyramid. Club history The club was originally known as Shahid Ghandi Yazd, but after one season in the IPL, the club finished last and was relegated. Their main sponsor, the ''Yazd Cable Company'' was facing financial problems and could not afford to sponsor the team any longer. At first it appeared as if the club would be forced to fold altogether, but on July 20, 2006, a new set of sponsors came forward and the team was renamed Esteghlal Yazd. SAIPA ( fa, سایپا, ''SAIPA'') is an Iranian automaker headquartered in Tehran. The SAIPAC (an acronym for the French ''Société anonyme iranienne de production des automobiles Citroën'') was established in 1965 as with 75% Iranian ownership, to assemble Citroëns under license for the Iranian market.
