2005–06 Derby County F.C. Season
During the 2005–06 English football season, Derby County competed in the Football League Championship. Season summary Derby County had high hopes going into the season after finishing fourth the previous season, but manager George Burley, who had transformed Derby from relegation candidates into promotion hopefuls, quit in June following the sale of young midfielder Tom Huddlestone to Tottenham Hotspur, without Burley's knowledge nor consent. His replacement, Phil Brown (in his first full-time managerial position) was unable to build on Burley's good work and their poor form dragged them into the relegation mire instead. He was sacked in January after a 6–1 thrashing against Coventry City in the league and a 3–1 defeat against League One side Colchester United in the FA Cup, with Derby languishing in 19th. Alan Geoffrey Wright (born 28 September 1971) is an English football manager and former professional footballer. He was a left back who has played over 750 league and cup games for eight clubs, including an eight-year spell in the Premier League for Aston Villa. He has also played for Blackburn Rovers, Blackpool, Middlesbrough and Sheffield United plus he has had loan spells at Derby County, Leeds United, Cardiff City, Doncaster Rovers and Nottingham Forest. Tomasz Nikodem Hajto () (born 16 October 1972) is a Polish expert commentator, sports agent, football coach and retired professional footballer. Club career Born in Maków Podhalański, Hajto began his career playing for local club Halniak Maków Podhalański. He moved to Góral Żywiec before making his big break in 1991 with Hutnik Kraków. The England national under-21 football team, also known as England under-21s or England U21(s), is considered to be the feeder team for the England national football team. This team is for England players aged under 21 at the start of the calendar year in which a two-year European Under-21 Football Championship campaign begins, so some players can remain with the squad until the age of 23. Lee Michael John Camp (born 22 August 1984) is a professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper most recently for club Wrexham. Internationally, he represented Northern Ireland, being eligible through his Northern Ireland-born grandfather, although he previously played for the England under-21 team.
