2005 Uganda Super League
The 2005 Ugandan Super League was the 38th season of the official Ugandan football championship, the top-level football league of Uganda. Overview The 2005 Uganda Super League used a different format with 15 teams divided into 3 groups with 8 qualifying teams then progressing to the knock-out phase. The championship playoff was won by Police FC who defeated SC Villa 3-1 on penalties following a 0-0 draw in the final at Namboole Stadium. Those teams that failed to qualify for the knock-out phase entered a relegation pool but some teams failed to complete their league fixtures. Ugandan Super League
The Ugandan Premier League, also known as the StarTimes Uganda Premier League for sponsorship reasons, is the top division of the Federation of Uganda Football Associations. The league was previously known as the Uganda Super League but changed in the 2014–15 season after new management taking over. The league's roots date back to 1968 when the National First Division League was established. Uganda Revenue Authority SC
Uganda Revenue Authority Football Club is a Ugandan football team based in Kampala. The club plays in the Ugandan Premier League and was founded in 1997. They have won the Ugandan Premier League four times and the Uganda Cup three times. History URA merged with Lyantonde FC in 2001. URA had been excluded from the Western League. Lyantonde, cup finalists in 2000, did not raise enough money to continue playing in the Buganda Super mini-league. The parties agreed URA would pay the registration fee and take over Lyantonde's place in the league. After promotion, the team took the URA name and began play in the Buganda mini-league. Away Goals Rule
The away goals rule is a method of tiebreaker, tiebreaking in association football and other sports when teams play each other twice, once at each team's home ground. Simba is a fictional character and the protagonist of Disney's ''The Lion King'' franchise. Express Football Club, abbreviated as Express, is a Ugandan football club from Kampala, the largest city and capital of Uganda. The club play their home games at the Muteesa II Wankulukuku Stadium. History Express FC is popularly referred to by the club fans as the Red Eagles and has also been known as the Express Sports Club. The club is one of the oldest football clubs in Uganda, having been founded in October 1957 by managers of the Uganda Express Newspapers. Gulu United Football Club is a Ugandan football club located in Gulu, Gulu District in Northern Uganda. The club was playing in the Ugandan Big League in the 2011–12 season but there is currently no FUFA records that confirm that the club is still operating at a senior level. However the club is active at a youth level. History Gulu United Football Club, (also known as Gulu Black Rangers Football Club) made their first appearance in the Ugandan Super League in the 1999 season. The club were relegated at the end of the season having finished in 19th position. Victors FC
Victors FC was a Ugandan association football team based in Kampala which played in the Ugandan Super League until their relegation in 2012. Victors FC won the Ugandan Cup twice and also appeared in the CAF Confederations Cup. As part of their Confederations Cup run, the club saved $1,500 by requesting referees from Tanzania instead of Eritrea. The club was relegated in 2013 and failed to register for the second division the following season. Mbarara United Football Club was a Ugandan football club located in Mbarara, Mbarara District in Western Uganda. The club played in the Ugandan Big League in the 2009–10 season but there is currently no FUFA records that confirm that the club is still operating. History Mbarara United were one of the 8 teams that participated in the inaugural season of the National First Division in 1968–69, the league being the forerunner of the Ugandan Super League. Police FC (Uganda)
Police FC is a football club from Kampala in Uganda. History They have won their first Ugandan league title in 2005 and the CECAFA Clubs Cup in 2006. Police was spurred on in the early years by Dennis Obua as a player and later as coach. During Obua's years, he managed to stage youthful players who have blossomed into really great talent. When Obua became the Federation of Uganda Football Association president, he hired Steven Mulinde to step in his shoes.
