The 2005 PGA Argentina Tour was a season of golf tournaments on the PGA of Argentina Tour, the official professional golf tour of Argentina. The season ran from the end of January to the beginning of December, and consisted of sixteen tournaments. The Order of Merit was won by Ángel Cabrera, ahead of Julio Zapata in second, and Andrés Romero in third. Three events were co-sanctioned by the Tour de las Americas, the highest level tour in Latin America, with the Argentine Open also being co-sanctioned by the Challenge Tour. South Open
The South Open, or Abierto del Sur, is one of the major regional open golf tournaments in Argentina, and is also one of the oldest, having been inaugurated 1918. It has always been held at the Mar del Plata Golf Club in Mar del Plata, Buenos Aires Province. The course plays to a par of 70, and the course record is 59, which was set by Miguel Ángel Martín in the 1987 Open. The tournament was founded as the Abierto de Aficionados y Profesionales (the Professionals and Amateurs Open), and was renamed as the Abierto de Mar del Plata (Mar del Plata Open) in 1925, before being given its current title in 1939. Kevin Stadler
Kevin Stadler (born February 5, 1980) is an American professional golfer who plays on the PGA Tour and formerly on the European Tour. Early life Stadler, the son of former Masters champion and 13-time PGA Tour winner Craig Stadler (known affectionately by pros and fans as ''The Walrus'') and Susan Barrett, was born in Reno, Nevada. He moved with his family to Denver, Colorado, where he attended Kent Denver School, excelling on the school's golf team. He graduated from the University of Southern California and turned professional in 2002. Professional career In 2004 Stadler won twice on the second tier Nationwide Tour, and finished 13th on the money list to win a place on the 2005 PGA Tour. In his rookie season on the elite tour he came 168th on the money list, thus losing his playing status. The Roberto De Vicenzo Punta del Este Open Copa NEC was a men's professional golf tournament. First held in 2005 as the Roberto De Vicenzo Classic, it is named after one of Argentina's most successful golfers, Roberto De Vicenzo. The tournament has been held at the San Eliseo Golf Club in Buenos Aires, Argentina until 2012, and moved to the Club de Golf del Uruguay in Montevideo, Uruguay. Argentine Masters
The Argentine Masters or Torneo de Maestros was one of the most prestigious golf tournaments in Argentina, despite not having been played continuously since the inaugural event in 1961. It was always held at the Olivos Golf Club near Buenos Aires. The tournament formed part of the Tour de las Americas schedule. In 2008 it was co-sanctioned by the Canadian Tour (2009 season).
