2002 Sukma Games
The 2002 Sukma Games, officially known as the 9th Sukma Games, was a Malaysian multi-sport event held in Sabah from 7 to 14 September 2002. Perakian gymnast Ng Shu Mun, Kuala Lumpurian athlete Ngew Sin Mei and Negeri Sembilan athlete Petra Nabila Mustafa were announced as Best Sportsman, Best Sportswoman and Most Promising Sportswoman of the event respectively. Development and preparation The 9th Sukma Games Organising Committee chaired by Chief Minister of Sabah, Chong Kah Kiat was formed to oversee the staging of the event. Venues The 9th Sukma Games had 19 venues for the games. Marketing Logo The logo of the 2002 Sukma Games is an athlete in action. Sabah
Sabah () is a States and federal territories of Malaysia, state of Malaysia located in northern Borneo, in the region of East Malaysia. Sabah borders the Malaysian state of Sarawak to the southwest and the North Kalimantan province of Indonesia to the south. Sabah Tshung Tsin Secondary School
Sabah Tshung Tsin Secondary School (''Sekolah Menengah Tshung Tsin Sabah'' in Malay, ''沙巴崇正中学'' in Chinese) is a Chinese independent high school located in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia. The school is one of sixty-one Chinese Independent High Schools in Malaysia. In 2007, the school was chosen as one of the ten Chinese Independent High Schools in Malaysia to be included as a Cluster School under the Education Blueprint of the Malaysian Government's Ninth Malaysia Plan. History 1962–1965: Early history In 1962, the Malaysian government brought in legislation that only students who excelled in their Ujian Pencapaian Sekolah Rendah (Primary School Leaving Examination) and were under the age of thirteen were eligible for education in secondary school. As a result, at least 40-50% of students in the city were unable to further their studies, the majority of whom were Chinese. The Sukma Games ( ms, Sukan Malaysia, lit.: Malaysian Games) is a biennial national multi-sport event involving young athletes from Malaysian 13 member states and the Federal territory. The games is regulated by the National Sports Council of Malaysia, the state sports council of the respective member states, the Olympic Council of Malaysia and the National Sports association of the games respective sporting event. Radio Televisyen Malaysia
Radio Televisyen Malaysia ( en, Radio Television of Malaysia, abbreviated as RTM, stylised as rtm), also known as the Department of Broadcasting, Malaysia ( ms, Jabatan Penyiaran Malaysia) is the national public broadcaster of Malaysia. Established on 1 April 1946 as Radio Malaya, it is the first and the oldest broadcaster in the country. After Malaysia was formed on 16 September 1963, Radio Malaya was renamed Radio Malaysia. On 28 December the same year, television service in Malaysia began with the establishment of Televisyen Malaysia. Education In Malaysia
Education in Malaysia is overseen by the Ministry of Education ( ms, Kementerian Pendidikan). Although education is the responsibility of the Federal Government, each state and federal territory has an Education Department to co-ordinate educational matters in its territory. The main legislation governing education is the Education Act 1996. The education system is divided into preschool education, primary education, secondary education, post-secondary education and tertiary education. Proboscis Monkey
The proboscis monkey (''Nasalis larvatus'') or long-nosed monkey is an arboreal Old World monkey with an unusually large nose, a reddish-brown skin color and a long tail. It is endemic to the southeast Asian island of Borneo and is found mostly in mangrove forests and on the coastal areas of the island. This species co-exists with the Bornean orangutan and monkeys such as the silvery lutung. It belongs in the monotypic genus ''Nasalis''. Taxonomy and names Proboscis monkeys belong to the subfamily Colobinae of the Old World monkeys. The Sabah Foundation ( ms, Yayasan Sabah) or Yayasan Sabah Group (YSG) is a state sanctioned organisation that was developed to promote educational and economic opportunities for its people. It was founded by Tun Mustapha Harun and manages a diverse portfolio of resources and issues. Likas Stadium
Likas Stadium ( Malay: ''Stadium Likas'') is a multi-purpose stadium in Likas, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia. It is mainly used for association football and athletics and it is located within Likas Sports Complex. It has been the home stadium of Sabah FC since its opening in 2001. Likas Stadium has a capacity of 35,000, making it the 8th largest football stadium in Malaysia in terms of seating capacity. The stadium is also located not far from the Kota Kinabalu city which is about 10 minutes drive or 40 minutes walk. The stadium itself is a walking distant to the nearest sport complex centre, 2km open space jogging trek which has a beautiful lake view, wall climbing facilities, skate boarding and roller blading court, tennis court and sport hostel.
