Radio Televisyen Malaysia ( en, Radio Television of Malaysia, abbreviated as RTM, stylised as rtm), also known as the Department of Broadcasting, Malaysia ( ms, Jabatan Penyiaran Malaysia) is the national public broadcaster of Malaysia. Established on 1 April 1946 as Radio Malaya, it is the first and the oldest broadcaster in the country. After Malaysia was formed on 16 September 1963, Radio Malaya was renamed Radio Malaysia. On 28 December the same year, television service in Malaysia began with the establishment of Televisyen Malaysia. In 1969, Radio Malaysia and Televisyen Malaysia merged to form the present day broadcast department. Radio Televisyen Malaysia monopolised the free-to-air television until 1984 and radio until 1988, when private television and radio stations such as TV3 and Best FM begin to exist. TV Okey
RTM TV Okey (stylised as OKeY) is a Malaysian free-to-air television channel operated by Radio Televisyen Malaysia dedicated to East Malaysians and urban youths. It was launched on 21 March 2018 and airs programmes in English, Malay, and East Malaysian languages such as Bajau, Dusun, Kadazan (Sabah) and Iban (Sarawak). The channel's name is an acronym for “opportunity”, “knowledge”, “experience” and “yours”. Caldecott Hill
Caldecott Hill is a private housing estate, located along Thomson Road in the Central Region of Singapore. It is tied to the growth of the media industry in Singapore. In the past, Singapore's broadcast station, Mediacorp was located there. The Caldecott Broadcast Centre opened in 1954. In 2017, Mediacorp moved to its new campus on Stars Avenue, one-north. After Mediacorp moved, the old campus at Andrew Road was left abandoned until October 2020 where they appointed real estate consultants to market the area to hold 67 bungalow plots. In December 2020, the land was sold for $280.9million to a private estate company. It was also referred to as "The Hill" by the local media and Mediacorp employees. Best FM (Malaysia)
Best FM is both Malaysia's first private radio station (not the first commercial station, Time Highway Radio is the first), and the first to be based outside of Kuala Lumpur, in Johor Bahru, Johor, Malaysia. It began transmission in 1988 primarily as a station to suit the listening taste of the then Sultan of Johor, Almarhum Sultan Iskandar. It used to broadcast in both English and Malay, but fierce competition with other private stations broadcasting in English forced it to focus on the Malay speaking audience. Its commercialisation began when it extended its broadcast area to outside its native Johor state and the commencement of round-the-clock broadcast in 1996.
