Yeghegnadzor
Yeghegnadzor ( hy, Եղեգնաձոր) is a town and urban municipal community in southern Armenia, serving as the provincial capital of Vayots Dzor Province. It is located at a road distance of 123 km south of the capital Yerevan, on the shores of Srkghonk River ( hy, Սրկղոնք), at a height of 1194 meters above sea level. As per the 2016 official estimate, Yeghegnadzor had a population of around 6,600. However, as of the 2011 census, the population of the town was 7,944. Yeghegnadzor is the seat of the Diocese of Vayots Dzor of the Armenian Apostolic Church. 2000 In Armenian Football
2000 in Armenian football was the ninth season of independent football after the split-up from the Soviet Union. The Armenian Premier League for 2000 existed of 8 teams of which the lowest ranked teams would relegate to the Armenian First League. The seventh ranked team would enter the promotion/relegation play-off with the second ranked team of the First League. However it was decided that none of the Premier League teams would be relegated and four clubs were promoted from the First League, as well as FC Banants that was given a place at the highest level for the 2001 season. In the last few weeks Ararat, Zvartnots-AAL, Dinamo and Mika all refused to play once or more times as they were demanding fair play and claiming that referees penalised them repeatedly in favour of Araks that eventually won the title due to the awarded 3-0 victories in their favour. The 2000 Armenian Cup was the ninth edition of the Armenian Cup, a football competition. In 2000, the tournament had 16 participants, out of which only 1 was a reserve team. In the 2001 Armenian Premier League, FC Pyunik were the champions. Overview * FC Armenicum, Karabakh Yerevan, Lori Vanadzor, and FC Kotayk were promoted from the Armenian First League last year. Gyumri City Stadium ( hy, Գյումրիի քաղաքային մարզադաշտ) is an all-seater football stadium in Gyumri, Armenia. It is currently the home venue of the Armenian Premier League club FC Shirak of Gyumri. The current capacity of the stadium is 4,000 seats. History The stadium was built and opened in 1924 to become the first stadium in the modern history of Armenia. When Shirak was founded in 1958, the stadium became the regular home ground of the team for the Soviet First League competition. Starting from 1991, the stadium witnessed many glorious moments of FC Shirak in the Armenian Premier League and the Armenian Independence Cup. The stadium hosted the 2011–12 Armenian Cup final match when Shirak defeated Impulse to win the title for the first time in their history.
