Senior Ice Hockey
Senior hockey refers to amateur or semi-professional ice hockey competition. There are no age restrictions for Senior players, who typically consist of those whose Junior eligibility has expired. Senior hockey leagues operate under the jurisdiction of Hockey Canada or USA Hockey. They are not affiliated in any way with professional hockey leagues. Many former professional players play Senior hockey after their pro careers are over. The top Senior AAA teams in Canada compete annually for the Allan Cup. Lloydminster Border Kings
The Lloydminster Border Kings were a Senior AAA ice hockey team based in Lloydminster, Saskatchewan, Canada. The team competed in the Wild Goose League in (at least) 2007–08, then in the Chinook Hockey League (CHL) from 2008–09. The team moved from the CHL to the Sask West Hockey League for the 2012–13 season. They moved again for the 2014–15 season, to the Battle River Hockey League (BRHL). When the BRHL folded before the 2015–16 season, the Border Kings attempted to join as many as three other leagues, being declined each time by the league officials; the team ceased operations at that time. The Border Kings captured the Allan Cup – Canada's national senior championship – in 2001 and 2007. Lloydminster
Lloydminster is a city in Canada which has the unusual geographic distinction of straddling the provincial border between Alberta and Saskatchewan. The city is incorporated by both provinces as a single city with a single municipal administration. History Intended to be an exclusively British utopian settlement centred on the idea of sobriety, Lloydminster was founded in 1903 by the Barr Colonists, who came directly from the United Kingdom. Allan Cup
The Allan Cup is the trophy awarded annually to the national senior amateur men's ice hockey champions of Canada. It was donated by Sir Montagu Allan of Ravenscrag, Montreal, and has been competed for since 1909. The current champions are the Lacombe Generals, who captured the 2019 Allan Cup in Lacombe, Alberta. The top amateur teams left the Eastern Canada Amateur Hockey Association, which allowed professionals, to form the new Inter-Provincial Amateur Hockey Union (IPAHU), a purely amateur league. The Powell River Regals were a Canadian Senior ice hockey team from Powell River, British Columbia. The Regals played an independent schedule under the supervision of the BC Amateur Hockey Association. The Regals were three-time Allan Cup National Senior "AAA" Champions and one-time Hardy Cup National Intermediate "A" Champions. The Saint-Georges Cool FM 103.5 is a professional ice hockey team based in Saint-Georges, Quebec, Canada. The team is part of the Ligue Nord-Américaine de Hockey (LNAH), and plays at the Centre Sportif Lacroix-Dutil. History The team was founded in 1996-97 as the Rive-Sud Jackals in the former Quebec Semi-Pro Hockey League (QSPHL). The Jackals became the Saint-Georges Garaga in 1998–99, when relocating to Saint-Georges, Quebec. The Garaga dominated Canadian senior hockey in the early 2000s, winning the 2002 Allan Cup and the 2004 Allan Cup. In 2005, the team was purchased by businessman Jean-Paul Blais, who also owns the CRS Express trucking company, and renamed the team Saint-Georges CRS Express.
