1997 European Ladies' Team Championship
The 1997 European Ladies' Team Championship took place 9–13 July at Nordcenter Golf & Country Club in Åminnefors, Finland. It was the 20th women's golf amateur European Ladies' Team Championship. Venue The hosting club was founded in 1988. Its first course, the Fream course, situated in Åminnefors, close to Pohja in the province of Southern Finland and part of the Uusimaa region, 70 kilometres west of Helsinki, Finland, was designed by architect Ronald Fream. The course meanders across a varied landscape from a lush seashore towards a forest plateau full of steep elevation changes and the old park area of a manor house. A second 18-hole-course, the Benz course, located on a forest plateau, was designed by Bradford Benz and inaugurated in 1993. The championship course was set up with par 72. Southern Finland
Southern Finland ( fi, Etelä-Suomen lääni, sv, Södra Finlands län) was a province of Finland from 1997 to 2009. It bordered the provinces of Western Finland and Eastern Finland. Stéphanie Arricau (born 14 June 1973 in Orthez) is a French professional golfer. She studied marketing and management and had a long amateur career as a junior and an adult before turning professional at the age of 26. Kim Andrew ( Rostron, born 12 February 1974) is an English amateur golfer. She won the 1997 English Women's Amateur Championship and the 1998 Ladies' British Open Amateur Championship. She played in the Curtis Cup in 1998 and 2000. Golf career Andrew played for England in the Girls Home Internationals in 1991 and 1992. Elaine Ratcliffe (born November 1972) is an English amateur golfer. She won the 1998 English Women's Amateur Championship. She played in the Curtis Cup in 1996 and 1998 and was the non-playing captain in 2021 and 2022. Golf career In 1990 Ratcliffe represented England in the Girls Home Internationals at Penrith. Fiona Mary Haddon Brown (later Champness, born 13 February 1974) was an English amateur golfer. She won the 1994 English Women's Open Amateur Stroke Play Championship and the 1999 English Women's Amateur Championship. She played in the Curtis Cup in 1998 and 2000. Karen Margrethe Juul (born 23 December 1975) is a Danish professional golfer. Amateur career Juul was born in Esbjerg, Denmark. She practically grew up on the golf course, her mother a national team player, and started training golf at 9 years old. Aged 14, she made her debut at the club's division team, and by 18 years old she participated in her first women's European Championship.
