1995 Rugby World Cup – European Qualification
For the 1995 Rugby World Cup qualifiers, the European Federation was allocated three places in the final tournament. This was in addition to the four places granted to England, France, Ireland and Scotland based on their results from 1991. stadium, 200px Rugby Rovigo Delta, formerly known until 2010 as Rugby Rovigo, is an Italian rugby union club currently competing in the Top10. They are based in Rovigo, in Veneto. The club was founded in 1935 by medical student Dino Lanzoni, who discovered rugby at university. They quickly became one of the strongest Italian sides and won 13 titles between 1951 and 2021. They have never been relegated from the top flight of Italian rugby union. They are the current Italian champion. Stadio Comunale di Monigo is a sports stadium in the Treviso frazione of Monigo, Italy. The stadium is used for rugby union, and is the home ground for Benetton. The stadium has a total capacity of , divided between the two covered stands: the Tribuna Ovest (West Stand), seated with seats, and the Tribuna Est (East Stand), seated with seats. The Tribuna Ovest was the only originally covered stand, in fact the East Stand was renovated in 2018, increasing the capacity and building a cover. On the occasion of the test match between Italy and Scotland which was played there on 24 January 1998, the capacity was expanded to approximately seats thanks to the installation of some temporary stands at the sides of the permanent ones. 1991 Rugby World Cup
The 1991 Rugby World Cup was the second edition of the Rugby World Cup, and was jointly hosted by England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland and France: at the time, the five European countries who participated in the Five Nations Championship. This was the first Rugby World Cup to be staged in the northern hemisphere, with England the hosts of the final. Also for the first time, qualifying competitions were introduced as the number of entrants had increased from 16 nations four years before to a total of 33 countries. The eight quarter-finalists from 1987 qualified automatically with the remaining eight spots contested through qualifiers by 25 countries. This resulted in only one new side qualifying for the tournament, Western Samoa replacing Tonga. The same 16-team pool/knock-out format was used with just minor changes to the points system.
