1988 Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship
The 1988 Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship was the 98th staging of the Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship since its establishment by the Tipperary County Board in 1887. The championship began on 14 August 1988 and ended on 8 October 1988. Cappawhite were the defending champions, however, they failed to qualify after being defeated in the West Tipperary Championship. On 8 October 1988, Loughmore-Castleiney won the championship after a 2–07 to 1–08 defeat of Borris-Ileigh in a final replay at Semple Stadium. It was their first ever championship title. North Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship
The North Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship (known for sponsorship reasons as the Hibernian Inn North Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship) is an annual hurling competition organised by the North Tipperary Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association since 1907 for senior hurling teams in North Tipperary, Ireland. The series of games begins in March, with the championship culminating with the final in August. The championship has always been played using a knock-out format. The North Tipperary Championship was, until recent times, an integral part of the wider Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship. The winners and runners-up of the North Tipperary Championship joined their counterparts from the other three divisions to contest the county championship quarter-finals. 13 clubs currently participate in the North Tipperary Championship. Tom McGrath (Gaelic Footballer)
Thomas McGrath (born 1956) is an Irish former hurler and Gaelic footballer. At club level he played with Loughmore–Catsleiney as a dual player and was also a member of the Tipperary senior football team. Career McGrath first played hurling and Gaelic football at juvenile and underage levels with the Loughmore–Catsleiney club. He won numerous divisional titles in both codes a minor and under-21 level before winning Tipperary U21AFC titles in 1974 and 1976. By that stage McGrath had also joined the club's senior teams in both codes. He won five Tipperary SFC titles between 1977 and 1992, while he was also a member of the Loughmore team that won the Tipperary SHC title in 1988. McGrath first appeared on the inter-county scene as a dual minor in 1974. Aidan Ryan (Tipperary Hurler)
Aidan Ryan (born 30 January 1965) is an Irish retired hurler. His league and championship career with the Tipperary senior team spanned fifteen seasons from 1984 to 1999. Born in Borrisoleigh, County Tipperary, Ryan was raised in a strong hurling family. His father, Tim Ryan, and his uncles, Ned Ryan and Pat Stakelum, won All-Ireland medals with Tipperary between 1949 and 1951. Ryan enjoyed his first hurling successes with Templemore CBS while simultaneously appearing for the Borris–Ileigh club at juvenile and underage levels. He eventually joining the club's senior team. The highlight of his club career came in 1987 when he won an All-Ireland medal. Ryan also won one Munster medal and two county championship medals. Pat McGrath (born 1961) is an Irish retired hurler and Gaelic footballer. His league and championship career with the Tipperary senior teams in both codes spanned nine seasons from 1981 to 1989. Born in Loughmore, County Tipperary, McGrath was raised in a family that had a strong affinity for Gaelic games. JK Brackens GAA Club
JK Brackens is a Gaelic Athletic Association club serving the parish of Templemore, Clonmore and Killea in County Tipperary, Ireland. JK Brackens compete in the county Tipperary GAA and Mid-Tipperary divisional competitions and is one of only two clubs in Tipperary that consistently complete at senior level in both the hurling and gaelic football. The club is also nationally renowned as one of the country's leading GAA Scór clubs. Currently, the club fields 21 teams from under 6 up to senior grades and has approximately 250 playing members. Cashel King Cormacs GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club located in the town of Cashel, County Tipperary in Ireland. They play their games in Leahy Park, on the Clonmel Road in Cashel.
