1985 Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship
The 1985 Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship was the 95th staging of the Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship since its establishment by the Tipperary County Board in 1887. Moycarkey-Borris were the defending champions. On 13 October 1985, Kilruane MacDonaghs won the championship after a 2–11 to 0–10 defeat of Roscrea in the final at Semple Stadium. It was their fourth championship title overall and their first title since 1979. Pat O'Neill (Tipperary Hurler)
Pat O'Neill is a retired Irish people, Irish sportsperson. He played hurling with his local club Cappawhite GAA, Cappawhite and with the Tipperary GAA, Tipperary senior inter-county team from 1987 until 1988. He captained the Tipperary team that won the National Hurling League 1987–88, 1988 National Hurling League, starting the final against Offaly GAA, Offaly at right half forward and scoring two goals and a point. He was also captain when Tipperary won the Munster Senior Hurling Championship in 1988 Munster Senior Hurling Championship Final, 1988 and was an unused substitute in the 1988 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship Final. Jim Williams (hurler)
James Williams (born 1952) is an Irish former hurler and Gaelic footballer. At club level he played with Kilruane MacDonaghs and was also a member of the Tipperary senior teams as a dual player. Career Williams first played hurling and Gaelic football at juvenile and underage levels with the Kilruane MacDonaghs club. He won a number of divisional minor and under-21 titles in both codes and was also a member of the team that won the first of four consecutive Tipperary Under-21AHC titles in 1973. Williams made his first appearance for the club's senior team as a 16-year-old in 1969. He was at centre-forward on the Kilruane MacDonaghs team that won the All-Ireland Club Championship title in 1986, having earlier won four Tipperary SHC titles, including one as team captain, and a Tipperary SFC title in 1975. Séamus Hennessy (hurler, Born 1956)
Séamus Hennessy (born 1956) is an Irish former hurling, hurler. At club level he played with Kilruane MacDonaghs GAA, Kilruane MacDonaghs and was also a member of the Tipperary senior hurling team. Career Hennessy first played hurling at juvenile and underage levels with the Kilruane MacDonaghs GAA, Kilruane MacDonaghs. He is the only player to have lined out in six consecutive divisional under-21 finals and is one of only a handful of players to have won four consecutive Tipperary U21AHC titles with the club from 1973 to 1976. Hennessy was the youngest ever Kilruane player to line out in a North Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship, North Tipperary SHC final when he did so as a 17-year-old in 1973. Francis Loughnane
Francis Loughnane (born 1945) is an Irish retired hurler who played as a wing-forward for the Tipperary senior team. Loughnane made his first appearance for the team during the 1968 championship and became a regular player over the course of the following decade. During that time he won one All-Ireland winner's medal, one Munster winner's medal, one National League winner's medal and three All-Star awards. At club level, Loughnane is an All-Ireland medalist with Roscrea. In addition to this he has also won two Munster club winners' medals and six county championship winners' medals. Playing career Club Loughnane played his club hurling with Roscrea and enjoyed much success in a senior career that lasted more than twenty years. Eamon O'Shea
Dr. Eamon O'Shea (born 1958) is an Irish former hurler who played as a right wing-forward at senior level for the Tipperary and Dublin county teams. O'Shea began his senior career during the 1979 championship and was a regular player on the inter-county scene until his retirement after the 1986 championship. During that time he won one National Hurling League winners' medal. At club level O'Shea is an All-Ireland medalist with Kilruane MacDonagh's. In addition to this he has also won one Munster and four county club championship medals. A former coach of the Tipperary senior hurling team, O'Shea was appointed manager of the team in September 2012. O'Shea is currently based in Galway and works as the head of Economics at NUI Galway. Ger O'Neill (born 13 October 1962) is an Irish retired hurler who played as a corner-forward for the Tipperary senior team. O'Neill joined the team during the 1982 championship and was a regular member of the team until his retirement almost a decade later. Thurles Sarsfields is a Tipperary GAA club which is located in County Tipperary, Ireland. Both hurling and Gaelic football are played in the "Mid-Tipperary" divisional competitions. Cashel King Cormacs GAA
Cashel King Cormacs GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club located in the town of Cashel, County Tipperary in Ireland. They play their games in Leahy Park, on the Clonmel Road in Cashel. The club is named for the king-bishop Cormac Mac Cárthaigh (d. 1138). Extensive work has been carried out in the last few years, with the addition of a new clubhouse and main stand the highlight. Carrick Swans GAA
Carrick Swan GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club, located in the town of Carrick-on-Suir in south County Tipperary in Ireland. It is one of three GAA clubs in the town, one of which, St. Molleran's, is in County Waterford in the southern suburb of Carrickbeg. The Swan are predominantly a hurling club and lead the roll of honour for the number of South Tipperary senior hurling championships won. The club enjoys a keen rivalry with the longer established Carrick Davins, named in honour of Maurice Davin, first President of the GAA who lived at Deerpark near the town. They have one of the best setups for underage youngsters in the county with numerous county titles been won underage.
