Jim Williams (hurler)
James Williams (born 1952) is an Irish former hurler and Gaelic footballer. At club level he played with Kilruane MacDonaghs and was also a member of the Tipperary senior teams as a dual player. Career Williams first played hurling and Gaelic football at juvenile and underage levels with the Kilruane MacDonaghs club. He won a number of divisional minor and under-21 titles in both codes and was also a member of the team that won the first of four consecutive Tipperary Under-21AHC titles in 1973. Williams made his first appearance for the club's senior team as a 16-year-old in 1969. He was at centre-forward on the Kilruane MacDonaghs team that won the All-Ireland Club Championship title in 1986, having earlier won four Tipperary SHC titles, including one as team captain, and a Tipperary SFC title in 1975. Kilruane MacDonaghs GAA
Kilruane MacDonaghs GAA is a Tipperary GAA club which is located in County Tipperary, Ireland. Both hurling and Gaelic football are played in the "North-Tipperary" divisional competitions. The club is centred on the villages of Kilruane, Ardcroney and Cloughjordan. The club was founded in 1937 and is named after Thomas MacDonagh, a signatory of the 1916 Proclamation who was born and lived in Cloughjordan. The clubhouse and playing field are located in Cloughjordan. The finest day in the club's history was in 1986 when it won the Senior Hurling Club All-Ireland title, defeating Buffers Alley of Wexford GAA in the final by 1-15 to 2-10. The club incorporates many of clubs that existed in the parishes at the time. A forerunner to the MacDonaghs club was the famous De Wets formed in 1900. Tipperary Senior Football Team
The Tipperary county football team represents Tipperary in men's Gaelic football and is governed by Tipperary GAA, the county board of the Gaelic Athletic Association. The team competes in the three major annual inter-county competitions; the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship, the Munster Senior Football Championship and the National Football League. Tipperary's home ground is Semple Stadium, Thurles. The team's manager is David Power. Tipperary was the second Munster county to win an All-Ireland Senior Football Championship (SFC), as well as to appear in the final, following Limerick. Kilruane (''Cill Ruáin'' in Irish language, Irish) is a townland and civil parishes in Ireland, civil parish in the historical Barony (Ireland), barony of Ormond Lower, County Tipperary in Ireland. It is located between Nenagh and Cloughjordan. Sport Kilruane MacDonagh's GAA club grounds are located nearby in Cloughjordan. Buildings of note The ruins of Kilruane Church of Ireland are still standing. Built with the assistance of the Board of First Fruits in 1820, the ruins display some detailed stone work. National Hurling League
The National Hurling League is an annual Inter county, inter-county hurling competition featuring teams from Ireland and England. Founded in 1925 by the Gaelic Athletic Association, it operates on a system of promotion and relegation within the league system. The league has 35 teams divided into six divisions, with either five or six teams in each division. Promotion and relegation between these divisions is a central feature of the league. Although primarily a competition for Irish teams, teams from England – currently Lancashire GAA, Lancashire, London GAA, London and Warwickshire GAA, Warwickshire – also take part, while in the past New York GAA, New York also fielded a team for the latter stages of the league. Munster Senior Club Hurling Championship
The Munster Senior Club Hurling Championship (known for sponsorship reasons as the AIB Munster GAA Hurling Senior Club Championship) is an annual hurling competition organised by the Munster Council of the Gaelic Athletic Association since 1964 for the champion hurling teams in the province of Munster in Ireland. The series of games are played during the autumn and winter months with the Munster final currently being played in November. The prize for the winning team is the O'Neill Cup.
