1980 Volvo Grand Prix
The 1980 Volvo Grand Prix was a men's professional tennis circuit held that year. It incorporated the four grand slam tournaments, the Grand Prix tournaments. The Grand Prix circuit is a precursor to the ATP Tour. Volvo became the new tour sponsor of the Grand Prix circuit after Colgate-Palmolive decided to end its sponsorship. Terry Rocavert
Terry Rocavert (born 21 October 1955) is a former professional tennis player from Australia. Playing career Rocavert is often known for his second round match against John McEnroe in the 1980 Wimbledon Championships. After defeating veteran Roger Taylor in the opening round, Rocavert faced the American and took a two sets to one lead. In the fourth set tiebreak, Rocavert went up a mini-break when McEnroe double faulted and recalled that he "started thinking of the consequences of winning, what they might ask me at the press conference". He lost the tiebreak and then the fifth set, 3–6. He was a semi-finalist in the men's doubles at the 1979 Australian Open, with partner John James. Brad Guan
Brad Guan (born 10 July 1958) is a former professional tennis player from Australia. Grand Slam career Guan made his first appearance in the main singles draw of a Grand Slam at the 1981 Australian Open, where he lost in the opening round to Pat Du Pré, in five sets. He was also beaten in the first round of the 1982 French Open, by Juan Avendaño, but made the men's doubles quarter-finals, with Derek Tarr as his partner. This equaled his best Grand Slam performance, as he also reached the quarter-finals in the doubles at the 1980 Australian Open, partnering Ernie Ewart. Phil Davies is a former professional tennis player from Australia. Biography As a junior, Davies won the boys' doubles title at the 1977 Australian Open, partnering with Peter Smylie. Davies made all of his Grand Prix appearances in local Australian tournaments.
