Ottawa (, ; Canadian French: ) is the capital city of Canada. It is located at the confluence of the Ottawa River and the Rideau River in the southern portion of the province of Ontario. Rideau Ward (1887-1980)
Rideau-Rockcliffe Ward is a city ward in Ottawa, Ontario. Located in the city's east end, the ward covers the neighbourhoods of New Edinburgh, Manor Park, Rockcliffe Park, Wateridge Village, Overbrook, Lindenlea, Viscount Alexander Park, Carson Meadows, Cardinal Glen, Rockcliffe Mews, Forbes, Castle Heights and part of Carson Grove. Prior to amalgamation, the area was part of Rideau Ward. The name "Rideau Ward" has been applied to this area since New Edinburgh was annexed by Ottawa in 1887. It was first contested in the 1887 municipal election, and was known as New Edinburgh Ward in the 1887 and 1888 elections. This recent incarnation of Rideau Ward was created in 1994 from Overbrook-Forbes Ward and part of By-Rideau Ward. Elmdale Ward was a municipal ward in the city of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. The ward was created in 1929 when it was split off from Dalhousie Ward. It existed until 1994, when it was merged with Queensboro Ward to become Kitchissippi Ward. From 1952 to 1980, the ward was known as Elmdale-Victoria Ward, after Elmdale Ward merged with Victoria Ward. Elmdale Ward originally consisted of Ottawa's western suburbs, such as Civic Hospital and Hintonburg, but was later shifted west by an expanding Dalhousie Ward to its east. Queensboro Ward
Queensboro Ward is a former municipal ward in the city of Ottawa, Canada. In 1950, what is now Ottawa's Westboro neighbourhood was annexed from Nepean Township. This area would be named Westboro Ward for just two years. In 1952, the size of Ottawa City Council was decreased, and the area became known as Ward 8 which eventually became Queensboro Ward in 1956. In 1991, the ward changed names to Carlington-Westboro Ward before it was merged with Elmdale Ward to become Kitchissippi Ward in 1994. Queensboro Ward traditionally consisted of Ottawa's Westboro neighbourhood and Carlington neighbourhood.
