1971 Cork Senior Football Championship
The 1971 Cork Senior Football Championship was the 83rd staging of the Cork Senior Football Championship since its establishment by the Cork County Board in 1887. The draw for the opening round fixtures took place at the Cork Convention on 31 January 1971. The championship ran from 18 April to 10 October 1971. Muskerry entered the championship as the defending champions, however, they were beaten by Carbery in the quarter-finals. The final was played on 10 October 1971 at the Athletic Grounds in Cork between Carbery and University College Cork in what was their second ever meeting in the final and the first in seven years. Beara GAA is a division of Cork GAA, and is responsible for organizing Gaelic Athletic Association games in the Beara Peninsula in County Cork, Ireland. It is one of eight divisions of Cork County Board. It organizes competitions for the clubs within the division, from Under 12 up to the adult level. The winners of these competitions compete against other divisional champions to determine which club is the county champion. Currently, the following clubs are part of the Beara division - Castletownbere, Adrigole, Urhan, Garnish, Bere Island and Glengarriff. It has no senior football team so the only representative in the Cork Senior Football Championship is the divisional team. Cloughduv GAA
Cloughduv GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association based in the village of Cloughduv in County Cork, Ireland. The club is a member of the Muskerry division of Cork GAA. The club fields hurling team only. There are two Gaelic football clubs in the parish (Kilmurry parish) - Canovee and Kilmurry - and there is often an overlap of players between the different clubs. History Hurling in the area pre-dates the founding of the Gaelic Athletic Association in Thurles in 1884; when the Cork County Board was inaugurated in 1886, 21 clubs attended including Ryecourt GAA represented by Michael J Keane. Shortly thereafter the name was changed to Cloch Dubh. Success was not long in arriving, culminating in 1912 in a great victory in the County Senior Beamish Shield. Mallow (; ) is a town in County Cork, Ireland, approximately thirty-five kilometres north of Cork. Mallow is in the barony of Fermoy. Macroom
Macroom (; ga, Maigh Chromtha) is a market town in County Cork, Ireland, located in the valley of the River Sullane, halfway between Cork city and Killarney. Its population has grown and receded over the centuries as it went through periods of war, famine and workhouses, forced emigration and intermittent prosperity. The 2011 census gave an urban population of 3,879 people, while the 2016 census recorded 3,765 people. Macroom began as a meeting place for the druids of Munster.
