Nemo Rangers GAA
Nemo Rangers Hurling & Football Club is a Cork (city), Cork-based Gaelic Athletic Association club on the southside of Cork city, Ireland. The club was founded in 1922 and is involved in Gaelic football, hurling, Ladies football and Camogie. History Nemo Rangers Hurling & Football Club was founded in 1922 following the amalgamation of two Cork clubs – Nemo and Rangers. Within six years the new club made their mark by winning the county Intermediate Hurling and Football Championships in 1928, a feat that has never been equalled. Since then Nemo have become notable as a football club, having won seven All-Ireland club football titles. Nemo have established close links with nearby secondary school, Coláiste Chríost Rí. Cork (city)
Cork ( , from , meaning 'marsh') is the second largest city in Ireland and third largest city by population on the island of Ireland. It is located in the south-west of Ireland, in the province of Munster. Following an extension to the city's boundary in 2019, its population is over 222,000. The city centre is an island positioned between two channels of the River Lee which meet downstream at the eastern end of the city centre, where the quays and docks along the river lead outwards towards Lough Mahon and Cork Harbour, one of the largest natural harbours in the world. Shea Fahy
Shea Fahy (born 6 October 1962) is an Irish Gaelic football coach and former player. At club level he played with Sarsfields and Nemo Rangers and was a member of the Kildare and Cork senior football teams. Fahy usually lined out at midfield. Army career Fahy was an officer in the Irish Army. He was based in Collins Barracks, Cork and result leading him to join the Cork team. Playing career Fahy first played Gaelic football at club level with the Sarsfields club in Newbridge. After progressing through the various underage teams he went on to win County Championship titles with the club's senior team in 1982 and 1986. By this stage he had also made an impression on the inter-county scene, having joined the Kildare senior football team in 1982. Fahy subsequently transferred to the Nemo Rangers club in Cork and enjoyed a hugely successful period there, culminating with an All-Ireland Club Championship title in 1994. The draw for the opening fixtures took place on 9 December 2001. The championship began on 7 April 2002 and ended on 6 October 2002. Nemo Rangers entered the championship as the defending champions. The 1972 Cork Senior Football Championship was the 84th staging of the Cork Senior Football Championship since its establishment by the Cork County Board in 1887. The draw for the opening round fixtures took place on 30 January 1972. The championship ran from 7 April to 19 November 1972. Carbery entered the championship as the defending champions, however, they were beaten by Muskerry in the quarter-finals. The final was played on 19 November 1972 at the Athletic Grounds in Cork between Nemo Rangers and University College Cork in what was their first ever meeting in the final. Munster Senior Club Football Championship
The Munster Senior Club Football Championship (known for sponsorship reasons as the AIB Munster GAA Football Senior Club Championship) is an annual Gaelic football competition for the champion clubs of each county. It has been organised by the Munster Council of the Gaelic Athletic Association since 1964. The series of games are played during the autumn and winter months with the final usually being played in late November. The prize for the winning team is the O'Connor Cup. The championship has always been played on a straight knockout basis whereby once a team loses they are eliminated from the championship. The All-Ireland Senior Club Football Championship is an annual Gaelic football tournament which began in season 1970–71. It is the top-tier competition for the senior football clubs of Ireland and London.
