199th Street (Manhattan)
The New York City borough of Manhattan contains 214 numbered east–west streets ranging from 1st to 228th, the majority of them designated in the Commissioners' Plan of 1811. These streets do not run exactly east–west, because the grid plan is aligned with the Hudson River, rather than with the cardinal directions. Thus, the majority of the Manhattan grid's "west" is approximately 29 degrees north of true west; the angle differs above 155th Street, where the grid initially ended. The grid now covers the length of the island from 14th Street north. All numbered streets carry an East or West prefix – for example, East 10th Street or West 10th Street – which is demarcated at Broadway below 8th Street, and at Fifth Avenue at 8th Street and above. The numbered streets carry crosstown traffic. In general, but with numerous exceptions, even-numbered streets are one-way eastbound and odd-numbered streets are one-way westbound. Most wider streets, and a few of the narr ...

National Lampoon The 199th Birthday Book
''National Lampoon The 199th Birthday Book: A Tribute to the United States of America, 1776–1975'' was an American humor book that was issued in 1975 in paperback. Although it appears to be a regular book, it was a "special issue" of ''National Lampoon'' magazine, and therefore was sold on newsstands rather than in bookstores. The book was a collection of new material and was ''not'' an anthology of already published material. The "199th Birthday" of the title is a reference to the fact that in 1976 the United States celebrated its 200th birthday, (the Bicentennial), thus in 1975 when this book was published the United States was 199 years old. The cover art was photographed by Arky & Barrett was conceived and art-directed by Michael C. Gross. It shows a row of four naked female models whose skin has been colored with bodypaint so they resemble the "Betsy Ross flag" with a star for the first American states, previously the Thirteen Colonies. The three naked models on the lef ...

199 (number)
199 (one hundred ndninety-nine) is the natural number following 198 and preceding 200. In mathematics 199 is a centered triangular number. It is a prime number and the fourth part of a prime quadruplet: 191, 193, 197, 199. It is an emirp, given that the reversal of its digits is also prime (991). 199 is the smallest natural number that takes more than two iterations to compute its digital root as a repeated digit sum: \begin 199&\mapsto 1+9+9=19\\ &\mapsto 1+9=10\\ &\mapsto 1+0=1. \end Thus, its additive persistence is three, and it is the smallest number of persistence three.
