Willy Vandersteen
Willy Vandersteen (15 February 1913 – 28 August 1990) was a Belgian creator of comic books. In a career spanning 50 years, he created a large studio and published more than 1,000 comic albums in over 25 series, selling more than 200 million copies worldwide. Considered together with Marc Sleen the founding father of Flemish comics, he is mainly popular in Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany. Hergé called him "The Brueghel of the comic strip", while the creation of his own studio and the mass production and commercialization of his work turned him into "the Walt Disney of the Low Countries". Vandersteen is best known for ''Suske en Wiske'' (published in English as ''Spike and Suzy'', ''Luke and Lucy'', ''Willy and Wanda'' or ''Bob and Bobette''), which in 2008 sold 3.5 million books. His other major series are ''De Rode Ridder'' with over 200 albums and ''Bessy'' with almost 1,000 albums published in Germany. Biography 1913–1939 Willebrord Jan Frans Maria Vandersteen wa ...

Gay Comix
''Gay Comix'' (later ''Gay Comics'') is an underground comics series published from 1980–1998 featuring cartoons by and for gay men and lesbians. The comic books had the tagline “Lesbians and Gay Men Put It On Paper!” Much of the early content was autobiographical, but more diverse themes were explored in later editions. The contents of ''Gay Comix'' were generally about relationships, personal experiences, and humor, rather than sex. It is generally less sexually explicit than the similarly-themed (and male-focused) ''Meatmen'' series of graphic novels.Rothschild, p. 64 Its editors each made a deliberate effort to feature work by both women and men. Publication history Kitchen Sink Press published the first five issues of ''Gay Comix''; thereafter it was published by Bob Ross, publisher of the ''Bay Area Reporter'' gay newspaper. The first four issues were edited by Cruse; issues #5 through #13 were edited by Robert Triptow. Andy Mangels edited issues #14 to #25 and ...

The Gathering Of Five And The Final Chapter
"The Gathering of Five" and "The Final Chapter" are interconnected 1998 storylines published by Marvel Comics. Both storylines are crossovers between all Spider-Man titles published at the time (''The Amazing Spider-Man'', '' Peter Parker: Spider-Man'', ''The Spectacular Spider-Man'', and ''The Sensational Spider-Man''). It also marked the cancellation of both ''The Spectacular Spider-Man'' and ''The Sensational Spider-Man,'' while also "rebranding" ''The Amazing Spider-Man'' and ''Peter Parker: Spider-Man'' by renumbering the issues to start again with a new "Issue One" (as mandated by Editor-in-Chief Bob Harras). The storyline proved controversial with fans, as it resurrected the character of Peter Parker's elderly Aunt May, who had been killed off at the height of the "Clone Saga" three years earlier in ''The Amazing Spider-Man'' #400. Tom DeFalco, who had left months earlier with his '' Spider-Man: Identity Crisis'' storyline, originally had intended Peter and Mary Jane's dau ...

Eppo (comics)
''Eppo'' is a Dutch comic magazine named after the protagonist of the back-page-gags. It was the result of the merging of the magazines ''Pep'' and ''Sjors''. ''Eppo'' ran as a weekly magazine from 1975 to 1988; it was revived in 2009 as a fortnightly magazine. History and profile The first thirteen issues of ''Eppo'' appeared in the last three months of 1975 and introduced comics such as ''Storm'', ''Roel Dijkstra'', '' Franka'' (originally a character from the ''Pep''-featured '' Het Misdaadmuseum'') and '' Sjors & Sjimmie''. All of them became staples of the magazine, alongside Eppo himself. In 1985, after more than 500 issues, ''Eppo'' merged with ''Wordt Vervolgd'', a television program devoted to comics, cartoons, and related topics. Early 1988 the magazine became the bi-weekly '' Sjors & Sjimmie''. The first years were still successful, but in 1994 the name was shortened to ''Sjosji'' in an attempt to reach a younger generation. It backfired, and by the end of the decade ...
