Danish Cup
The Danish Cup ( da, Landspokalturneringen; often referred to as Pokalen) is the official "knockout" cup competition in Danish football, run by the Danish Football Association. The cup has been contested annually since 1955. The winner will qualify for the UEFA Europa League tournament the following year, where they (as of the 2009–10 season) will enter in the third qualifying round. The latest edition, 2017-18 Danish Cup, was won by Superliga-side Brøndby, beating Superliga-side Silkeborg 3–1 on 10 May 2018 at Parken Stadium, thereby winning their first domestic trophy since 2008. The final traditionally takes place on ''Kristi Himmelfarts Dag'' ( The Ascension) and it is always played in the Danish national stadium Parken. Brøndby IF
Brøndbyernes Idrætsforening (, usually abbreviated to Brøndby IF (), is a professional association football club based in Brøndbyvester, Capital Region of Denmark. The club was founded in 1964 as a merger between two local clubs and was promoted to the Danish top-flight football league in 1981. Brøndby IF has won 11 Danish championships and 7 Danish Cups. Brøndby's most successful period was from 1985 to 2005 when, in twenty years, they won ten league titles. Danish Football Association
The Danish Football Union ( da, Dansk Boldspil-Union; DBU) is the governing body of football in Denmark. It is the organization of the Danish football clubs and runs the professional Danish football leagues and the men's and women's national teams. It is based in the city of Brøndby and is a founding member of both FIFA and UEFA. The DBU has also been the governing body of futsal in Denmark since 2008. Beginnings The DBU was founded on 18 May 1889 and was the first national football association outside Great Britain and Ireland. Bo Hansen
Bo Jannik Nyby Hansen (born June 16, 1972) is a Danish former football player in the striker position. He scored 52 goals in 143 games for Danish club Brøndby IF and 16 goals in 119 games for English club Bolton Wanderers. Hansen played one game for the Denmark national football team. Biography Hansen started his career with Holstebro Boldklub in the Danish 1st Division. In July 1991, defending Danish champions Brøndby IF were reported to be interested in signing him. Hansen chose to finish his education, and played a further three years for Holstebro, amassing more than 140 games for the club. Ebbe Sand
Ebbe Sand (; born 19 July 1972) is a former professional footballer from Denmark who played as a forward for Brøndby IF in Denmark and FC Schalke 04 in Germany. He was the Bundesliga top scorer in 2001, and won the DFB-Pokal in 2001 and 2002 with Schalke. On the international stage, he represented the Denmark national team at the 1998 and 2002 FIFA World Cup, as well as the 2000 and 2004 European Championships. At the 1998 World Cup, he scored the fastest-ever World Cup goal by a substitute – 16 seconds after entering the match. In all, he was selected 66 times for the Danish national team and scored 22 goals, from his debut in 1998 until he decided to focus on playing for Schalke in 2004. When his contract with Schalke ran out in summer 2006, he moved back to Denmark to become head talent scout at Silkeborg IF. Jesper Thygesen
Jesper Thygesen (born 20 September 1969) is a Danish football director, commentator, and former player. From 1991 to 2005, Thygesen played 296 games and scored 45 goals in the Danish Superliga. He played in the midfielder position, and represented Ikast FS, Silkeborg IF, Brøndby IF, and Randers FC, winning the 1998 Superliga and 1998 Danish Cup with Brøndby. He played 27 national youth team games, and represented the Denmark League XI national football team on seven occasions in 1997 and 1998. He started his youth career with Randers Freja, before getting his breakthrough with Ikast FS. He returned to the Randers club, now known as Randers FC, in 2003, and ended his career with the team in 2005. He was a playing assistant manager in his final year in Randers FC. Bent Christensen Arensøe, formerly known as Bent René Christensen, (born 4 January 1967) is a Danish former professional footballer who played as a striker. During his active career he earned the nickname "Turbo" for his velocity. He played in a string of clubs, most notably Danish club Brøndby IF, where he scored a combined 116 goals in 208 games and won five Danish championships. Peter Nielsen (footballer)
Peter Nielsen (born 3 June 1968) is a Danish former professional footballer, who works as assistant manager for Danish 1st Division club Fremad Amager. He won ten international caps and scored one goal for the Denmark national team, with whom he won Euro 1992, though he did not play at the tournament. Career Nielsen started his career in the Danish 3rd Division with BK Fremad Amager, and also played with Lyngby Boldklub. He moved abroad to play for Borussia Mönchengladbach in the Bundesliga, before ending his career with F.C. Copenhagen back in Denmark. He retired in 2003. He began a coaching career in 2005. First as an assistant manager in B93, then training the youth team at Kjøbenhavns Boldklub. From 1 January 2006 to 26 May 2008 he was Ståle Solbakken's assistant manager in F.C. Copenhagen. Parken Stadium, also known simply as Parken and as Telia Parken (2014–2020), is a football stadium in the Indre Østerbro (''Inner Østerbro'') district of Copenhagen, Denmark, built from 1990 to 1992. The stadium, which features a retractable roof, currently has a capacity of 38,065 for football games, and is the home of FC Copenhagen and the Denmark national football team.
