The 1997 Danish speedway season was the 1997 season of motorcycle speedway in Denmark. Individual Individual Championship The 1997 Danish Individual Speedway Championship was the 1997 edition of the Danish Individual Speedway Championship. The final was held at Holsted on 23 May. The title was won by Tommy Knudsen. The Championship formed part of the 1998 Speedway Grand Prix Qualification with 5 riders qualifying for the Scandinavian Final. Final Key - Each heat has four riders, 3 points for a heat win, 2 for 2nd, 1 for third and 0 for last Junior Championship Claus Kristensen won the Junior Championship. The 1996 Danish speedway season was the 1996 season of motorcycle speedway in Denmark. Holsted Speedway Klub or Holsted Tigers is a speedway club from Holsted in Denmark, who compete in the Danish Speedway League. History The club was founded on 5 November 1974 by Kurt Bøgh. The original track was small and caused controversy with the Danish Motor Union over its size. In 1989 the club moved to a new track. The team now runs from the Holsted Speedway Centre. Holstebro Speedway Klub is a motorcycle speedway club from Holstebro in Denmark. They were champions of Denmark, having won the title in 1997. Track The track is located about 16 kilometres east of Holestebro on Hesselåvej 41B (south of Skave) and is adjacent to the Holstebro Moto Cross track. History 1953 to 1967 In 1953, Holstebro Motor Klub (HMK) converted the grass track at Naur to a 367-metre speedway track. The track was known as the Naur track because it was just outside Holstebro to the west, by the railway line to Naur. The track hosted significant speedway events but unfortunately, due to financial difficulties the HMK suspended activities in 1967. The Danish Speedway League ( da, Dansk Speedway Liga) or Danish Super League or Metal League as it is called today is the top division of motorcycle speedway in Denmark. Roll of Honour List of teams to have finished in medal-winning positions: 2008 season The 2008 season was won by Slangerup; they beat Esbjerg and Holsted. 2009 season 2015 season In the Superfinal Munkebo won with 36 points. Claus Kristensen
Claus Kristensen (born 11 June 1977) is a former motorcycle speedway rider from Denmark. Biography Kristensen, born in Holstebro, came to prominence in 1997, after he won the Danish U21 championship. Initially he rode for Herning in Denmark before securing a deal to ride in the British league system. He began his British leagues career riding for Berwick Bandits during the 1999 Premier League speedway season. The following season in 2000, he joined Swindon Robins, improved his average to 7.13 and would help the club win the Knockout Cup. Danish Under 21 Individual Speedway Championship
The Danish Under 21 Individual Speedway Championship is a competition for riders who are under the age of 21, holding a Danish passport and a valid DMU licence. The competition was first staged in 1960 and was won by Jorgen Hoffman. Although there was no competition in 1961, the event returned in 1962 and has been staged every year since.
