1996 Solheim Cup
The fourth Solheim Cup took place from 20 September to 22 September 1996 at St. Pierre Hotel & Country Club, Chepstow, Wales. The United States team retained the cup beating the European team by 17 points to 11. Chepstow
Chepstow ( cy, Cas-gwent) is a town and community in Monmouthshire, Wales, adjoining the border with Gloucestershire, England. It is located on the tidal River Wye, about above its confluence with the River Severn, and adjoining the western end of the Severn Bridge. It is the easternmost settlement in Wales, situated east of Newport, east-northeast of Cardiff, northwest of Bristol and west of London. Chepstow Castle, situated on a clifftop above the Wye and its bridge, is often cited as the oldest surviving stone castle in Britain. The castle was established by William FitzOsbern immediately after the Norman conquest, and was extended in later centuries before becoming ruined after the Civil War. A Benedictine priory was also established within the walled town, which was the centre of the Marcher lordship of Striguil. Trish Johnson
Patricia Mary "Trish" Johnson (born 17 January 1966) is an English professional golfer. Early life and amateur career Johnson was born in Bristol. Her three brothers were all golfers, one of them was a professional golfer. She practiced other sports, like badminton, soccer and tennis. She preferred to not take golf lessons and learn by herself. She was South Western Champion in 1983 and 1984. In 1984 she was both England Under-23 and Under-21 Champion. In 1985 she won the English Women's Amateur Championship, was the English Women's Strokeplay Champion and repeated as England Under-23 Champion. Ladybank
Ladybank () is a village and former burgh of Fife, Scotland. It is about north of Edinburgh, southwest of Cupar, close to the River Eden. Its 2006 population was estimated at 1,582. History Before the 18th century, this area was mostly marshland. In 1247 Roger de Quincy, 2nd Earl of Winchester granted the monks of Lindores Abbey the right to cut peat from a peat-moss called Monegre, to which monks gave the name ''Our Lady's Bog'' (the southwestern part of the village is still called ''Monkstown''). Over time this name was shortened to ''Ladybog''. When the Edinburgh and Northern Railway was constructed in the 1840s, a junction was built here with lines heading towards Perth and Dundee. Dale Reid
Dale Reid (born 20 March 1959) is a Scottish professional golfer from Ladybank, Fife. She is one of the most successful players in the history of the Ladies European Tour, with 21 tournament victories. She topped the Order of Merit in 1984 and 1987 and was made a life member of the tour after collecting her 20th title at the 1991 Ford Classic. She played for Europe in the first four Solheim Cups (1990, 1992, 1994 and 1996) and was Europe's non-playing captain in 2000 and 2002. She worked full-time in a care home in Cupar, Fife for a short time as a social care worker, shortly after leaving this job she moved to Australia where she now resides. Catrin Nilsmark
Catrin Maria Nilsmark (born 30 August 1967) is a Swedish professional golfer who played on both the United States-based LPGA Tour and the Ladies European Tour. Early life Nilsmark was born in Gothenburg, Sweden. She grew up in Lerum east of Gothenburg and began her golf career at Öijared Golf Club, Sweden's first golf club with two 18-hole courses. Alison Nicholas
Alison Nicholas, (born 6 March 1962) is an English professional golfer. Amateur career Nicholas was born in Gibraltar. She was educated at the School of St Mary and St Anne (now Abbots Bromley School for Girls). She enjoyed a very successful amateur career in England. She started playing golf at the age of 17 and won the 1982 and 1983 Northern Girls Amateur Open. Nicholas was the 1983 British Amateur Stroke Play champion. Liselotte Neumann
Liselotte Maria "Lotta" Neumann (born 20 May 1966) is a Swedish professional golfer. When she recorded her first LPGA Tour win, by claiming the 1988 U.S. Women's Open title, Neumann also became the first Swedish golfer, male or female, to win a major championship. Early years Neumann was born and grew up in Finspång, Sweden. Her father Rune was a former football player and coach of a local girls football team. Sale is a town in Trafford, Greater Manchester, England, in the historic county of Cheshire on the south bank of the River Mersey, south of Stretford, northeast of Altrincham, and southwest of Manchester. Joanne Lois Morley (born 30 December 1966) is an English professional golfer. Morley was born in Sale. She was leading amateur at the Women's British Open in 1989 and 1993 and English Women's Strokeplay Champion in 1991 and 1992. She finished runner-up in the 1992 British Ladies Amateur. She played on the Great Britain and Ireland team in the 1992 Curtis Cup (winners) and the 1992 Espirito Santo Trophy (2nd place).
