1988 President's Cup Football Tournament
The 1988 President's Cup International Football Tournament ( ko, 제17회 대통령배 국제축구대회) was the 17th competition of Korea Cup. This edition was held from 16 to 28 June 1988 to prepare the 1988 Summer Olympics, which was hosted in their country, and was the largest scale among all-time Korea Cups. Czechoslovak First League
The Czechoslovak First League ( cs, 1. fotbalová liga, sk, 1. futbalová liga) was the premier football league in the Czechoslovakia from 1925 to 1993, with the exception of World War II. Czechoslovakia was occupied by German forces who formed Gauliga Sudetenland and Gauliga Böhmen und Mähren leagues on occupied territories. Until the 1934-35 season, no teams from Slovakia participated in the league. Czechs were allowed to run their own league in the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia, while Slovaks were granted their own independent Slovak State and created their own league. After the World War II the league was recreated. Description The league was dominated by clubs from Prague with Sparta Prague winning 19 titles, Dukla Prague 11 and Slavia Prague 9. The attendance record for the league was set on 4 September 1965, when 50,105 spectators attended a match between rivals Sparta and Slavia in Prague. Seoul Olympic Stadium
The Seoul Olympic Stadium (), also known as Jamsil Olympic Stadium (formerly romanised as ''Chamshil''), is a multi-purpose stadium in Seoul, South Korea. It is the main stadium built for the 1988 Summer Olympics and the 1986 Asian Games, 10th Asian Games in 1986. It is the centrepiece of the Seoul Sports Complex in the Songpa District, in the southeast of the city south of the Han River (Korea), Han River. It is the largest stadium in South Korea. Design and construction This multi-purpose stadium was designed by Kim Swoo-geun. The lines of the stadium's profile imitate the elegant curves of a Korean Joseon Dynasty porcelain vase. Dongdaemun Stadium
Dongdaemun Stadium was a sports complex in Seoul, South Korea and included a multi-purpose stadium, a baseball park and other sports facilities. It was located near Dongdaemun or Great East Gate. The surrounding Dongdaemun market had many vendors selling athletics-related goods. It was demolished in 2008 to make way for the Dongdaemun Design Plaza & Park. History Construction on the main athletics stadium and baseball field began on 24 May 1925 and was opened for use on 15 October 1925 as Gyeongseong Stadium. The venue was the main center for sports events in the city, and along with Kirim Stadium in Pyongyang, it was one of the two venues used in the Gyeongsung-Pyongyang inter-city soccer tournament in the 1930s. Professor Peter Nelson Mwanza (born May 1937) is a Malawian politician. He was appointed Minister of Lands, Housing and Urban Development in the government of President Bingu wa Mutharika of Malawi on 17 June 2009. He was reassigned to become Minister of Agriculture and Food Security in a cabinet reshuffle on 9 August 2010. Birth and education Peter N. Mwanza was born in May 1937 in Mzimba, Malawi, the youngest of a family of five. He attended the University of London in the early 1960s, where he obtain a BSc degree in biology. He then held a position as a research scientist in Entomology with the Ministry of Agriculture in Malawi for one year. He left this job after obtaining a Ford Foundation International Fellowship to pursue advanced studies in the United States, attending Ohio State University and earning Masters and PhD degrees in Microbiology. Beston Chambeshi (born 4 April 1960) is a Zambian football coach and former player. Playing career Chambeshi played club football for Nkana. He represented Zambia at the 1988 Summer Olympics. Coaching career He coached Zambian club side Power Dynamos from 2012 to 2013. He became manager of the Zambian under-20 team in 2017, and managed them at the 2017 FIFA U-20 World Cup. Chung Hae-won (, 1 July 1959 – 1 May 2020) was a South Korean football player and coach. International career After winning the 1978 AFC Youth Championship as a member of the national under-20 team, Chung played as a left winger or a striker for senior national team. He scored two crucial goals to give South Korea a 2–1 win over North Korea in the semi-finals of the 1980 AFC Asian Cup, sending his team to the final. Byun Byung-joo (; or ; born 26 April 1961) is a former South Korean football player. He played for the South Korea national football team in 1986 and 1990 FIFA World Cup. Suwon
Suwon (, ) is the capital and largest city of Gyeonggi-do, South Korea's most populous province which surrounds Seoul, the national capital. Suwon lies about south of Seoul. Suwon Sports Complex () is a group of sports facilities in Suwon, South Korea. The complex consists of the Suwon Stadium, Suwon Baseball Stadium, and Suwon Gymnasium. Fausto Pizzi (born 21 July 1967) is an Italian former professional footballer who played as a midfielder. Since 2011, he has managed Parma F.C.'s most senior youth team. Playing career Pizzi was born in Rho. He started his career at Inter and spent the first five years of his career on loan, including one spell at Parma. He subsequently struggled to break into Inter's first team on a regular basis and moved to Parma in 1992, where he spent one year. He retired in 2005.
