Music Of Norway
Much has been learned about early music in Norway from physical artifacts found during archaeological digs. These include instruments such as the lur. Viking and medieval sagas also describe musical activity, as do the accounts of priests and pilgrims from all over Europe coming to visit St Olaf's grave in Trondheim. In the later part of the 19th century, Norway experienced economic growth leading to greater industrialization and urbanization. More music was made in the cities, and opera performances and symphony concerts were considered to be of high standards. In this era both prominent composers (like Edvard Grieg and Johan Svendsen) and performers combined the European traditions with Norwegian tones. The import of music and musicians for dance and entertainment grew, and this continued in the 20th century, even more so when gramophone records and radio became common. Jan Martin Gismervik
Jan Martin Gismervik (born 1988 in Avaldsnes, Karmøy, Norway) is a Norwegian jazz musician (drums), known from bands like Monkey Plot, Torg, Oker, O, PGA. Career Gismervik was raised in Avaldsnes, where he played in local groups. He is educated from the Improvised Music and Jazz Department at the Norwegian Academy of Music with a Bachelor Performance Degree, and in 2014 awarded "Young Jazz Musician of The Year" at Molde International Jazz Festival together with Monkey Plot. He cooperated within the duo "PGA" on the debut album ''Corrections'' (2012). On ''Corrections'' the "PGA" duo is assisted by Henrik Munkeby Nørstebø (trombone) and Torstein Lavik Larsen (trumpet) on two tracs. Natalie Sandtorv
Natalie Sandtorv (born 17 August 1988) is a Norwegian jazz musician (vocals, waterphone, harmonium, electronics) married July 29, 2016, to drummer Ole Mofjell, residing in Copenhagen, Denmark. Biography Sandtorv was born in Ålesund, Norway. She studied jazz, improvisational music and electronics at the Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo and at Griegakademiet in Bergen. She is known for her exploration of different expressions within improvisational music in solo projects and with various ensembles. Sandtorv started the band Polygon Junx in Bergen 2011, together with noise artist John Hegre. and drummer Thore Warland from the band Staer. They combine their references from jazz, contemporary music, noise, rock and free improvisation, creating an unpredictable and unique sound, and in 2012 they played in Geneva (Switzerland), Landmark and Playdate (Bergen, Norway), Heck (Trondheim, Norway) and Blowout (Oslo, Norway). Chriss Rune Olsen Angvik
Chriss Rune Olsen Angvik (born 12 August 1988 in Molde, Norway) is a Norwegian musician (guitar and vocals) and composer, and known from the bands Red Hot and Envy and the current member of Point and the former member of backing band guitarist and composer for Nico & Vinz. Career Angvik started the R&B band Red Hot together with friends from Romsdal in 2006. In 2008 they were invited to play together with Vidar Busk at the international festival Moldejazz. He won the final of the Emergenza festival 2011, with the band Envy (Nico & Vinz). Residing in Oslo, Angvik led his own band Chemical Music. Andreas Wildhagen (born 31 July 1988 in Oslo, Norway) is a Norwegian jazz drummer. Biography Wildhagen was raised in Oslo and attended the Norwegian Academy of Music in 2012, and earned his Master's degree A master's degree (from Latin ) is an academic degree awarded by universities or colleges upon completion of a course of study demonstrating mastery or a high-order overview of a specific field of study or area of professional practice.

David Aleksander Sjølie (born 7 May 1988) is a Norwegian jazz guitarist, known from bands like Mopti, married 31 July 2014, to the jazz singer Anja Eline Skybakmoen. Career Sjølie was born in Oslo, where he lives and works as a musician, producer and studio engineer. He studied jazz and improvisation at the Norwegian Academy of Music (2013). As a performing musician, he is grounded in different musical traditions such as jazz, pop, country and rock, and is collaborating in bands like Mopti, Angus and Grandmas Grand. Tone Damli Aaberge (born 12 April 1988) is a Norwegian singer-songwriter and actress. She became famous for being a contestant in the Norwegian version of the ''Idol'' series. Damli was the runner-up in the Norwegian version of ''Idol'' in 2005, following Jorun Stiansen in the final. Christian Meaas Svendsen (born 26 February 1988) is a Norwegian jazz bassist. He has worked with Nakama, Paal Nilssen-Love Large Unit, Mopti, Momentum, Aksiom, Ayumi Tanaka Trio and Duplex. He runs Nakama Records. Career Svendsen started his jazz career within Kongsberg Big Band, was a year at Toneheim folkehøgskole and later studied Performing jazz music at the Norwegian Academy of Music (NMH) in Oslo where he did a bachelor in both jazz/improv and classical music. During his years at NMH he studied under Bjørn Kjellemyr and Dan Styffe. He also exchanged to Cologne where he studied under Dieter Manderscheid, Sebastian Gramss and Dietmar Fuhr. Ragnhild Hemsing
Ragnhild Hemsing (born 15 February 1988 in Valdres, Norway) is a Norwegian classical violinist and older sister of the classical violinist Eldbjørg Hemsing. Biography Hemsing began to play the violin when she was five and a half years old and was invited to enroll at the Barratt Due Institute of Music in Oslo at nine. She studied in Vienna with Boris Kuschnir.
