1988 Czechoslovak Motorcycle Grand Prix
The 1988 Czechoslovak motorcycle Grand Prix was the penultimate round of the 1988 Grand Prix motorcycle racing season. It took place on the weekend of 26–28 August 1988 at the Masaryk Circuit located in Brno, Czechoslovakia. 500 cc race report Wayne Gardner on pole. Wayne Rainey gets a good start, but Tadahiko Taira gets the first turn. At the end of the first lap, it's Gardner, Taira, Christian Sarron, Rainey, and Eddie Lawson in 7th. Lawson needs to finish behind Gardner to win the championship. Gardner is getting a gap, but Lawson has moved to 2nd, while Sarron highsides out. After the race there's a dispute between Lawson and Rainey, Lawson perhaps angry that Team Roberts wasn't playing by the Yamaha team book with Rainey making 2nd place so difficult to get. Masaryk Circuit
The Masaryk circuit ( cz, Masarykův okruh) or Masarykring, also referred to as the Brno Circuit, refers to two motorsport race tracks located in Brno, Czech Republic. The original street circuit was made up of public roads, and at its longest measured . In 1949, events such as the Czechoslovakian Grand Prix attracted top teams and drivers. The track is named after the first president of Czechoslovakia, Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk. Racing on the old roads ended after 1986, when the new (current) circuit was opened. The annual Motorcycle Grand Prix of the Czech Republic is the circuit's most important event. It has been held here since 1950 and is the most famous motor race in the Czech Republic. Louis Christen Racing
Louis Christen Racing (LCR) is a Switzerland, Swiss sidecar manufacturer named after founder Louis Christen. LCR sidecars have dominated sidecar road racing winning 30 Sidecar World Championship, World Sidecar Championships including every one of Steve Webster (sidecar racer), Steve Webster's 10 world championships. LCR started in 1971 building open wheel racing cars, Formula Vee, Formula Ford and Formula 3. In 1976 the first LCR sidecar was designed. From 1983 to 1989 they produced a series of successful monocoque frames for the 80 cc and 125 cc Grand Prix motorcycle racing, Grand Prix solo classes. Giacomo Agostini
Giacomo Agostini (; born 16 June 1942) is an Italian multi-time world champion Grand Prix motorcycle road racer. Nicknamed Ago, he amassed 122 Grand Prix wins and 15 World Championship titles. Of these, 68 wins and 8 titles came in the 500 cc class, the rest in the 350 cc class. For these achievements obtained over the course of a career spanning 17 years, the AMA described him as "...perhaps the greatest Grand Prix rider of all time". In 2000, Agostini was inducted into the MotoGP Hall of Fame as a MotoGP Legend, while in 2010, he was named an FIM Legend for his motorcycling achievements. Christian Sarron
Christian Sarron (born 27 March 1955 in Clermont-Ferrand, France) is a French former Grand Prix motorcycle road racer. __TOC__ Motorcycle racing career He began his career on a Kawasaki when he met French Grand Prix racer Patrick Pons. Pons helped him get his start in the international racing circuit. His first victory came in the rain in the 1977 German Grand Prix. He was injured in a 750cc race which would begin a trend of numerous injuries for the next few years. In 1982, he again won in the rain at the Finnish Grand Prix, cementing his reputation as an exceptional wet weather rider. He finished the 1982 season 8th in the 350 class and 10th in the 250 class. He would finish second to Carlos Lavado in the 1983 250 class with another Grand Prix victory in the Swedish Grand Prix. Urs (from ''‘Urs'') or ''Urus'' (literal meaning wedding), is the death anniversary of a Sufi saint, usually held at the saint's dargah (shrine or tomb). In most Sufi orders such as Naqshbandiyyah, Suhrawardiyya, Chishtiyya, Qadiriyya, etc. the concept of Urs exists and is celebrated with enthusiasm. The devotees refer to their saints as lovers of God, the beloved. Urs rituals are generally performed by the custodians of the shrine or the existing Shaikh of the silsila. The celebration of Urs ranges from Hamd to Naat and in many cases includes the singing of religious music such as qawwali.
