Javier Sánchez (tennis)
Javier Sánchez Vicario (; born 1 February 1968) is a former top-ten doubles professional tennis player from Spain. Sánchez won the US Open junior singles and doubles title in 1986, and reached the quarterfinal stage in the US Open men's singles event twice - in 1991 and 1996. Career Sánchez won the US Open junior singles and doubles title in 1986, partnering with Tomás Carbonell, and became world no. 1 junior that same year. In Javier's first career singles final in 1987 in Madrid, he faced his brother Emilio Sanchez. Emilio won the match in three sets. Emilio and Javier would play each other a total of 12 times during their careers, Emilio winning ten of their encounters and Javier winning two. Francisco Javier Clavet González de Castejón (; born 24 October 1968), known as Pato Clavet (), is a former professional tennis player from Spain. He won eight singles titles, reached the semifinals of the 1992 Indian Wells Masters and the 1999 Miami Masters, and achieved a career-high ranking of world No. 18 in July 1992. Gustavo Giussani (born 6 March 1968) is a former professional tennis player from Argentina. Biography Nicknamed "Pancho", Salta born Giussani was based in Cordoba. In 1988 he won ATP Challenger Series, Challenger titles in Geneva Open Challenger, Geneva and Bogota. His best performance on the international circuit came in the doubles at the 1989 Athens Open. He partnered with countryman Gerardo Mirad to finish runners-up, to Claudio Panatta and Tomáš Šmíd. In singles that year he made the quarter-finals at a Grand Prix tennis circuit, Grand Prix event in ATP Saint-Vincent, Saint Vincent and had a win over Guillermo Vilas in a Cairo Challenger tournament. Jim Gurfein (born January 4, 1961) is a former professional tennis player from the U.S. Gurfein reached a career-high singles ranking of world No. 96 in September 1983. Early years Gurfein was born in New York City, and he is Jewish. Gurfein grew up in Great Neck, New York. He attended Great Neck North High School and Stanford University. Marcelo Ingaramo (born 13 October 1962) is a former professional tennis player from Argentina. Career Ingaramo made his Grand Slam debut in the 1985 French Open and was beaten in five sets by countryman Eduardo Bengoechea in the opening round. At Wimbledon in 1986 he was again on the wrong side of a five set match, losing 6–8 in the fifth set to Hans Schwaier. He broke through for his first at the 1986 US Open, his four Grand Slam appearance, with a win over Luiz Mattar. The Argentine was defeated in the second round by sixth seed Yannick Noah. Markus Rackl (born 3 March 1969) is a former professional tennis player from Germany. Biography A left-handed player from Traunstein, Rackl played professionally in the late 1980s and early 1990s. His best performance on tour came when he made the semi-finals of the Madrid Tennis Grand Prix in 1988, with wins over Marcelo Ingaramo, Edoardo Mazza and Sergio Casal. Carles ("Carlos") Costa Masferrer (born 22 April 1968) is a former professional tennis player from Spain. Costa turned professional in 1988. He was among the game's leading clay court players in the early 1990s. Costa was runner-up at the 1992 Italian Open, and reached the fourth round at that year's French Open and US Open. Additionally, Costa won the Barcelona Open, a tournament hosted by the tennis club where he grew up. In May 1992, he reached his career-high singles ranking of World No. 10. Costa retired in 1999. Roberto Azar (born 21 March 1966) is a former professional tennis player from Argentina. Career Azar was runner-up at the San Marino Open in 1989. He also reached the semi-finals at the Bologna Outdoor tournament that season, beating world number 27 Ronald Agenor in the quarter-finals. Guillermo Rivas (born 9 February 1964) is a former professional tennis player from Argentina. Biography Born in the Buenos Aires neighbourhood of Béccar, Rivas learned his tennis at Club San Fernando, inspired by Guillermo Vilas's 1977 US Open triumph, when Rivas was 13. He later trained at the Buenos Aires Lawn Tennis Club and turned professional in 1982. Rivas was a member of the Argentina Argentina Davis Cup team, Davis Cup squad for ties in Rome in 1983 and Atlanta in 1984, but didn't feature in either.
