1987 Swedish Golf Tour (women)
The 1987 Swedish Golf Tour was the second season of the Swedish Golf Tour, a series of professional golf tournaments for women held in Sweden. Tournament Director for a second year was Ulf Jacobsson, and player representative was Liv Wollin. Tournaments were played over 54 holes with no cut, the SI and LET events over 72 holes with cuts. Schedule The season consisted of 9 events played between May and September. The tour planned to continue Kristianstad Ladies Open and Aspeboda Ladies Open as Ladies European Tour events and added the European Masters, slated to be the richest LET event of the season with a purse of 1,100,000, but ultimately withdrew all three from the LET. Marie Wennersten
Marie Louise Inger Wennersten From (born 17 March 1958) is a retired Swedish professional golfer who played on the Ladies European Tour and LPGA Tour. Early life and amateur career Wennersten was born in Uddevalla on the west-coast of Sweden and played golf from age 10. As an amateur, representing Lyckorna Golf Club in Ljungskile south of Uddevalla, she won the Swedish Junior Match-play Championship in 1977 and the Swedish Match-play Championship in 1981, successfully defending the title in 1982. She represented Sweden at the European Lady Junior's Team Championship four times and was part of the Swedish team winning the 1978 event. Professional career In 1984, Wennersten enjoyed a spell on the LPGA Tour, with a best finish of T38 at the MasterCard International Pro-Am. Drottningholm Golf Club
Royal Drottningholm Golf Club is a golf club located in Drottningholm, Stockholm County in Sweden. It has hosted tournaments both on the European Tour and the Ladies European Tour. History The club was established in 1959 and received a royal charter from king Gustaf VI Adolf the same year. It is situated on the island Lovön in lake Mälaren in the outskirts of Stockholm adjacent to Drottningholm Palace, the residence of the Swedish Royal Family. The course was designed by Rafael Sundblom and his associate Nils Sköld, and the king himself inaugurated the course 26 September 1959. The course was renovated 2010–2012 by Johan Benestam and the remodeled course was inaugurated by Prince Daniel, Duke of Västergötland in June 2012. Kristianstad Golf Club is a golf club located in Åhus 18 km southeast of Kristianstad in Skåne County, Sweden. It has hosted the European Ladies Amateur Championship and Kristianstad Ladies Open on the Ladies European Tour. History The club was admitted to the Swedish Golf Federation in 1924 as only the 6th club in the country. The first 9-hole course was located at Rinkaby military training ground. It was moved to its current location in Åhus in 1940 and the first 18-hole course, Åhus East, was completed by 1969. The first 9 holes of Åhus West was built in 1980 and its extension to 18 holes was completed in 2006. Helen Christine Alfredsson (born 9 April 1965) is a Swedish professional golfer who played primarily on the U.S.-based LPGA Tour and is also a life member of the Ladies European Tour. She won the LPGA major Nabisco Dinah Shore and twice finished second in the U.S. Women's Open. She also won the Women's British Open once and the Evian Masters three times before those events were designated as majors in women's golf by the LPGA Tour. Linköping Golf Club is a golf club located 3 km west of central Linköping in Östergötland County, Sweden. It has hosted the Scandinavian Enterprise Open on the European Tour. History The club was admitted to the Swedish Golf Federation in 1948 and the course was inaugurated by Prince Bertil, Duke of Halland in 1949, after construction of the first 9 holes had started in 1945. The Swedish Match Play Championship is a golf tournament played since 1904, held for both men and women. It is the oldest and most traditional golf tournament in Sweden. The name SM is shortening in Swedish language for "Svenska Mästerskapet" (the Swedish Championship). History From the first tournament in 1904 (for men) and 1911 (for women) until 1983, it was an amateur tournament, from 1910 open only for Swedish citizens, and the winner was the official Swedish champion. Anna Iliana Maria Gabriella Oxenstierna (born 13 June 1963) is a former Swedish professional golfer. She played on the Ladies European Tour and won the 1989 TEC Players Championship. Early life Born into an athletic and golfing family, her father Thure Gabriel Oxenstierna is the architect of Roslagen Golf Club where her brother Alexander later were general manager. Delsjö Golf Club is a golf club located 3 km south of central Gothenburg, Sweden. It has hosted the Delsjö Ladies Open and Gothenburg Ladies Open on the Ladies European Tour. History Located in the Delsjön Nature Reserve in eastern Gothenburg, a reservoir for the city, construction was approved by the Gothenburg Municipality Assembly on 17 September 1959 after much wrangling.
