1986–87 Primera B Nacional
The 1986–87 Argentine Primera B Nacional was the 1st season of the newly created professional second division of football in Argentina, Argentine football. This was the result of new changes in the entire Argentine football league system, the Metropolitano championship, Metropolitano and Nacional championship, Nacional of Argentine Primera División, Primera División disappeared and the previous second division, the Primera B Metropolitana became the third division. The division was formed by 7 teams from Primera B Metro (the best placed teams from a tournament played previously), 13 teams from regional leagues outside Buenos Aires and 2 teams relegated from Argentine Primera División, Primera División in the 1985–86 Argentine Primera División, 1985–86 season. A total of 22 teams competed, with the champion and runner-up being promoted to Primera División. Primera Nacional (usually called simply Nacional B, (English "National B Division"), and known as Primera B Nacional until the 2019–20 Primera Nacional, 2019–20 season) is the second division of the Argentine football league system.
