Istora Senayan
Gelora Bung Karno Sports Palace ( id, Istana Olahraga Gelora Bung Karno, abbreviated as ''Istora''), the formerly name ''Istora Senayan'' is an indoor sporting arena located in Gelora Bung Karno Sports Complex, Jakarta, Indonesia. The capacity of the arena after 2018 reopening is 7,166. This arena is usually used for badminton tournaments. Its maiden event was the 1961 Thomas Cup. It was also used during the 1962 Asian Games and was renovated to host the 2018 edition. Its first post-renovation event was the 2018 Indonesia Masters. During the latter Games, it hosted the badminton and later stages of basketball events. The arena originally was planned to stage the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup and becoming the only Indonesian venue in the three-country joint bid but was moved to a newly-built arena inside the complex. Rudy Heryanto
Rudy Heryanto (; born 19 October 1954) is a male Chinese Indonesian former badminton player. Career A men's doubles specialist, Heryanto and fellow countrymen Hariamanto Kartono formed one of the world's leading teams between 1980 and 1985. As upstarts they earned silver medals at the 1980 IBF World Championships in Jakarta, losing the final to veteran Indonesian teammates Ade Chandra and Christian Hadinata. At the 1981 All-England Championships they avenged that loss in the semifinal and went on to defeat another venerable Indonesian pair, Tjun Tjun and Johan Wahjudi in the final. They won the All-Englands again in 1984 and the Indonesia Open in 1982 and 1983. Thomas Kihlström
Thomas Kihlström (born 11 December 1948) is a former badminton player from Sweden known for his agility, tactical astuteness, and coolness under pressure. Though an impressive singles player early in his career, his greatest successes came in doubles. Career Kihlström won the 1983 IBF World Championships in mixed doubles with Nora Perry. He also won 16 medals at the European Championships, two of them in men's singles, two in mixed doubles, five in men's doubles and 7 in team competition. Gillian Margaret Clark (born 2 September 1961) is an English badminton commentator and former badminton player who specialized in doubles. Badminton career World Championships Clark won two bronze medals at the World Championships a decade apart; for women's doubles in 1983, and for mixed doubles in 1993. Olympic Games Clark competed in badminton at the 1992 Summer Olympics in women's doubles with Julie Bradbury. Steen Fladberg
Steen Fladberg is a retired male badminton player from Denmark, noted for his speed of foot, who excelled during the 1980s. Though a strong international level singles player, his biggest achievements came in doubles. Career Fladberg won the gold medal at the 1983 IBF World Championships in men's doubles with Jesper Helledie, defeating Mike Tredgett and Martin Dew 15–10, 15–10 in the final. Eddy Hartono Arbie (; born 19 July 1964) is an Indonesian former badminton player who excelled in the late 1980s and early 1990s. After a brief stint competing in singles, he soon became a doubles specialist noted for his deft racket control and fluent strokes. His two siblings, Hastomo and Hariyanto were world class shuttlers in men's singles. Career Hartono affiliated with PB Djarum since 1976. Verawaty Fadjrin (; 1 October 1957 – 21 November 2021) was an Indonesian badminton player who won international titles spanning from the late 1970s to the end of the 1980s. Tall and powerful, at one time or another she played each of the three variations of the sport (singles, doubles, and mixed doubles) at the highest world level. Rosiana Tendean (born 25 August 1964) is an Indonesian retired badminton player. Career A doubles specialist, Tendean competed in women’s doubles with Erma Sulistianingsih at the 1992 Summer Olympics. Together, they won consecutive World Grand Prix Finals titles in 1989 and 1990, and two Indonesia Open titles in 1989 and 1992. Tendean had also won this title earlier with Ivana Lie in 1987, and in mixed doubles with Rudy Gunawan in 1990 and 1993. Rosiana and Rudy Gunawan won three Badminton World Cups in a row between 1990 and 1992, as well as the Hong Kong and Polish Opens in 1993. Imelda Wiguna (also known as ''Imelda Wigoena'', , born 12 October 1951) is a former badminton player from Indonesia who played at the world class level from the mid-1970s through the mid-1980s. Career A doubles specialist, Wiguna's two most impressive years in badminton were 1979 and 1980. In 1979 she won both doubles events, women's doubles with Verawaty Wiharjo and mixed doubles with Christian Hadinata, at the prestigious All-England Championships. The following year she reached the final of both events at the then triennial IBF World Championships in Jakarta, losing the women's doubles with Verawaty but winning the mixed doubles with Christian.
