Eddy Hartono
Eddy Hartono Arbie (; born 19 July 1964) is an Indonesian former badminton player who excelled in the late 1980s and early 1990s. After a brief stint competing in singles, he soon became a doubles specialist noted for his deft racket control and fluent strokes. His two siblings, Hastomo and Hariyanto were world class shuttlers in men's singles. Career Hartono affiliated with PB Djarum since 1976. He won the Indonesia junior national championships in 1981, and selected to join national team in 1983. He started his career in national team as singles player, and after two years he became a doubles specialist. In 1987, he teamed-up with Liem Swie King, won the Chinese Taipei, Japan and Indonesia Open's. Hartono shared numerous international men's doubles titles in a relatively brief time period, most of them with Rudy Gunawan, where Hartono played as front player. World Masters Games
The World Masters Games is an international multi-sport event held every four years which, in terms of competitor numbers, has developed into the largest of its kind. Governed by the International Masters Games Association (IMGA), the World Masters Games is open to sports people of all abilities and most ages – the minimum age criterion ranges between 25 and 35 years depending on the sport. Auckland, New Zealand hosted the event's ninth edition from 21 to 30 April 2017. Anyone can participate in the games so long as they are over the age of 35 though some sports will allow athletes who are younger than that. Participants compete for themselves – there are no country delegations. Beyond the age requirement and membership in that sport's governing body, there are no competition qualification requirements. Badminton has been one of the regular Asian Games sports since 1962 in Jakarta, Indonesia. History Badminton made its debut in the Asian Games as a demonstration sport at the 1958 Asian Games in Tokyo, Japan, and became a regular competitive sport in 1962. In the 1962 Games, six events were held, with singles, doubles and team event for both men and women. The mixed doubles event was added in 1966 Asian Games. There was a playoff between the two semifinal losers to determine the sole winner of the bronze medal in 1962; but since 1966, two bronze medals per event are awarded in each event (except in 1974). The Thomas Cup, sometimes called the World Men's Team Championships, is an international badminton competition among teams representing member nations of the Badminton World Federation (BWF), the sport's global governing body.
