1982 World Figure Skating Championships
The 1982 World Figure Skating Championships were held in Copenhagen, Denmark from March 9 to 14. At the event, sanctioned by the International Skating Union, medals were awarded in men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dancing. The ISU Representative was Olaf Poulsen and the ISU Technical Delegate was Josef Dědič. It was the first worlds with different judging panels for compulsory figures, short programs, and compulsory dance on one side and for the free skatings and free dance on the other. Josef Dědič
Josef Dědič (b. 1924; d. June 19, 1993 in Prague) was a Czechoslovak figure skater and sport official. He placed 9th at the 1948 European Figure Skating Championships and retired from competitive skating in that year. In 1949, he became a skating judge. He became an International Skating Union referee. He joined the ISU's technical committee in 1957, and served as the chairman of that committee between 1959 and 1967. From 1967 to 1984, he was a member of the ISU council representing figure skating. He served as vice-president of the ISU from 1984 until his death in 1993. From 1990 to 1993, he also served as president of the Czech Figure Skating Association. He studied at the Charles University in Prague and was a teacher by profession. Brian Orser
Brian Ernest Orser, (born 18 December 1961) is a Canadian former competitive and professional figure skater and coach to Olympic champions. He is the 1984 and 1988 Olympic silver medallist, 1987 World champion and eight-time (1981–88) Canadian national champion. At the 1988 Winter Olympics, the rivalry between Orser and American figure skater Brian Boitano, who were the two favorites to win the gold medal, captured media attention and was described as the "Battle of the Brians". Orser turned professional in 1988 and skated with Stars on Ice for almost 20 years. As a coach, he has led both Yuna Kim (2010) and Yuzuru Hanyu (2014, 2018) to Olympic titles. Andrei Minenkov
Andrei Olegovich Minenkov (russian: Андрей Олегович Миненков; born 6 December 1954) is a Russian retired ice dancer who represented the Soviet Union. With his wife Irina Moiseeva, he is the 1976 Olympic silver medalist, 1980 Olympic bronze medalist, and two-time world champion (1975 and 1977). Career Irina Moiseeva and Andrei Minenkov met at the rink when they were six years old and began skating together in 1967. They had their breakthrough during the 1974–1975 season. Andrei Anatolyevich Bukin (russian: Андрей Анатольевич Букин, born 10 June 1957) is a Soviet and Russian former ice dancer who represented the Soviet Union in his competitive career. With his partner Natalia Bestemianova, he is the 1988 Olympic Champion, 1984 Olympic silver medalist, four-time World champion, three-time World silver medalist, and five-time European champion. Natalia Filimonovna Bestemianova or Bestemyanova (russian: Наталья Филимоновна Бестемьянова, born 6 January 1960) is a Soviet and Russian former competitive ice dancer who competed for the Soviet Union. With her partner Andrei Bukin, she is the 1988 Olympic Champion, 1984 Olympic silver medalist, four-time World champion, three-time World silver medalist, and five-time European champion. Peter W. Carruthers (born July 22, 1959) is a former American pair ice skater and a television skating analyst. Carruthers and his adopted sister, Kitty, are the 1984 Olympic Silver medalists, the 1982 World Bronze medalists, and four-time United States National champions from 1981 to 1984. Caitlin A. "Kitty" Carruthers (born May 30, 1961) is a former American pair skater. Stanislav Viktorovich Leonovich (; 22 July 1958 – 1 July 2022) was a Russian figure skating coach and pair skater who represented the Soviet Union. With his skating partner, Marina Pestova, he became a two-time World medalist (silver in 1982, bronze in 1980), a two-time European medalist (silver in 1982, bronze in 1980), and a three-time Soviet national champion.
