Bem Bom
Portugal was represented by Doce, with the song "Bem bom", at the 1982 Eurovision Song Contest, which took place in Harrogate on 24 April. Doce was the winner of the Portuguese national final for the contest, held on 6 March. The song was chosen through a national final organised by broadcaster RTP. Before Eurovision Festival da Canção 1982 The final was held at the Teatro Maria Matos in Lisbon, hosted by Alice Cruz & Fialho Gouveia. The winning song was chosen by the votes of 22 regional juries. Doce previously came 2nd in the 1980 Portuguese Final and in the 1981 Portuguese Final 4th. Two members of the group (Teresa Miguel & Fatima Padinha) were in the group Gemini that represented Portugal in 1978 as was in Paris in France. At Eurovision On the night of the final Doce performed first in the running order, preceding Luxembourg. Isabel Mendes Lopes
Isabel Rendeiro Marques Mendes Lopes (born 28 February 1982) is a Portuguese civil engineer, politician and member of the Assembly of the Republic, the national legislature of Portugal. A member of the LIVRE party, she has represented Lisbon since March 2024. Early life Lopes was born on 28 February 1982 in the United Kingdom. She moved to Portugal at the age of two and lives in Lisbon. She has a degree in civil engineering (2005) from the Instituto Superior Técnico (IST). She also has a master's degree (2008) in mobility and transport from IST. Career Lopes is a civil engineer by profession, specialising in transport and planning. She worked for Infraestruturas de Portugal until 2022. She has been a storyteller of children's books since 2018 and has also done theatrical work. Doce
Doce was a Portuguese female band from the 1980s. It was one of the first girl bands in Europe. The girls took part in the Portuguese national final in order to represent the country in the Eurovision Song Contest 1980 with the song "Doce" ("Sweet"), but came second, and in 1981 with the song "Ali-Bábá, um homem das Arábias" ("Ali Baba, a man of the Arabias"), reaching 4th place in the national final. One year later, they won with "Bem bom" ("Very good") and went on the Eurovision Song Contest 1982 to reach the 13th position. There is also an English version of this song, called "Bim Bom", as well as a Spanish version, called "Bingo". The Eurovision Song Contest 1982 was the 27th edition of the annual Eurovision Song Contest. It took place in Harrogate, United Kingdom, following the country's victory at the with the song "Making Your Mind Up" by Bucks Fizz. Organised by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and host broadcaster British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), the contest was held at the Harrogate International Centre on 24 April 1982 and was hosted by English TV presenter and newsreader Jan Leeming. Eighteen countries took part in the contest with deciding not to enter this year.
