1981 Paris–Nice
The 1981 Paris–Nice was the 39th edition of the Paris–Nice cycle race and was held from 11 March to 18 March 1981. The race started in Meaux and finished at the Col d'Èze. The race was won by Stephen Roche of the Peugeot (cycling team), Peugeot team. Stephen Roche
Stephen Roche (; born 28 November 1959) is an Irish former professional road racing cyclist. In a 13-year professional career, he peaked in 1987, becoming the second of only two cyclists to win the Triple Crown of victories in the Tour de France and the Giro d'Italia general classification, plus the World road race championship, the first was Eddy Merckx. Roche's rise coincided with that of fellow Irishman Sean Kelly. Although one of the finest cyclists of his generation and admired for his pedalling style, he struggled with knee injuries and never contended in the Grand Tours post-1987. He had 58 professional career wins. All of these wins still stand, despite Roche having been accused by an Italian judge of taking EPO in the later part of his career. Peter Zijerveld
Peter Zijerveld (born 16 March 1955) is a Dutch former professional racing cyclist and triathlete. He rode in one edition of the Tour de France and two editions of the Vuelta a España. In 1983 NIKE asked him to ride triathlons profesionally. He went to San Diego where he exchanged knowledge about cycling, learned how to swim (better) and bought an aerodynamic helmet. Back in the Netherlands he put his helmet on in the first triathlon he rode. Its package didn't have an instruction, so he put the helmet on backwards! 'We were all pioneers.' Philip Grant Anderson (born 20 March 1958) is a British-born Australian former professional racing cyclist who was the first non-European to wear the yellow jersey of the Tour de France. Tommy Prim (born 29 July 1955) is a retired Swedish professional cyclist who rode for the Italian Bianchi team between the years of 1980 and 1986. In 1983 he became the first Scandinavian rider to win a classic race when he was victorious in Paris–Brussels, his other career highlights include winning Tirreno–Adriatico and the Tour de Romandie as well as twice finishing runner up in the Giro d'Italia in 1981 and 1982. Miramas
Miramas (; oc, Miramàs) is a commune in the Bouches-du-Rhône department, in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region, southern France. It is the second-largest commune in metropolitan Ouest-Provence and is located at the north end of the Étang de Berre lagoon, adjacent to and northeast of the city of Istres. Miramas station has rail connections to Marseille, Avignon, Martigues and Arles. Circuit of Miramas The Circuit of Miramas is located within 2 km of the town. In 1926 it hosted the French Grand Prix which was won by Frenchman Jules Goux driving a Bugatti T39A.
