The 1981 ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships were held in Nottingham, Great Britain. The men's competition consisted of six Canadian (single paddle, open boat) and nine kayak A kayak is a small, narrow watercraft which is typically propelled by means of a double-bladed paddle. The word kayak originates from the Greenlandic word ''qajaq'' (). The traditional kayak has a covered deck and one or more cockpits, each se ... events. Ion Bîrlădeanu (born 1 August 1958) is a retired Romanian sprint kayaker. He won a bronze medal in the K-1 1000 m event at the 1980 Olympics, placing sixth in the doubles. Vladimir Vladimirovich Parfenovich ( be, Уладзімір Парфяновіч; russian: Владимир Владимирович Парфенович, ; born 2 December 1958) is a retired Belarusian sprint canoer and politician.
