1972 FIBA Korać Cup
The 1972 FIBA Korać Cup was the inaugural edition of FIBA's competition for European basketball non national champions and cup winners, running from 4 January to 7 March 1972. 8 teams took part in the competition. Lokomotiva from Zagreb defeated OKK Beograd (another Yugoslav club), in a two-legged final to become the competition's first champion. FIBA Korać Cup
The FIBA Korać Cup was an annual basketball club competition held by FIBA between the 1971–72 and 2001–02 seasons. It was the third-tier level club competition in European basketball, after the FIBA European Champions' Cup (later renamed the EuroLeague) and the FIBA Cup Winners' Cup (later renamed the FIBA Saporta Cup). The last Korać Cup season was held during the 2001–02 season. History The Korać Cup was named after the legendary Yugoslav player Radivoj Korać, killed in 1969 in a car accident near Sarajevo. The Korać Cup is not to be confused with the Serbian national basketball cup competition, the Radivoj Korać Cup, which has been named after Radivoj Korać since the mid-2000s, the next year after the international Korać Cup competition was terminated. Košarkaški klub Cibona, commonly referred to as Cibona Zagreb or simply Cibona, is a men's professional basketball sports club, club based in Zagreb, Croatia. Omladinski košarkaški klub Beograd ( sr-cyr, Омладински кошаркашки клуб Београд), commonly referred to as OKK Beograd, is a men's professional basketball club based in Belgrade, Serbia. They are currently competing in the Basketball League of Serbia. It is part of the multi-sports Belgrade-based sport club OSD Beograd. The club is the league affiliate of Mega Basket. The club was founded in 1945 as KK Metalac. In 1950, the club changed its name to KK BSK, and then in 1958 to OKK Beograd, which it keeps to this day. Caen Basket Calvados is a French basketball team located in the commune of Caen in Northwestern France. The club competes in LNB Pro B, France's second-division men's league. History Caen Basket Club (CBC) was founded in 1959 after the scrapping of older basketball club Stade Malherbe Caennais.
