1967 Swedish Speedway Season
The 1967 Swedish speedway season was the 1967 season of motorcycle speedway in Sweden. Individual Individual Championship The 1967 Swedish Individual Speedway Championship final was held on 10 October in Gothenburg. Ove Fundin won the Swedish Championship for the seventh time. Junior Championship Winner - Christer Löfqvist Team Team Championship For the fifth consecutive season Getingarna won division 1 and were declared the winners of the Swedish Speedway Team Championship. Despite Arne Carlsson retiring and losing Leif Larsson for the season the Getingarna team recruited well by gaining Anders Michanek and Leif Enecrona to support Göte Nordin and Bengt Jansson. Four divisions returned for the 1967 season with the addition of Dackarna (returning after missing 1966) and three other clubs; Bysarna, Vikingarna and Solkatterna. 1966 Swedish Speedway Season
The 1966 Swedish speedway season was the 1966 season of motorcycle speedway in Sweden. Individual Individual Championship The 1966 Swedish Individual Speedway Championship final was held on 7 October in Stockholm. Ove Fundin won the Swedish Championship for the sixth time. The final ended with five riders tied on 12 points, Fundin won the race-off. Junior Championship Winner - Egon Stengarn Team Team Championship Getingarna continued their recent domination by winning division 1 again and being declared the winners of the Swedish Speedway Team Championship for the fourth consecutive season. The Getingarna team contained Göte Nordin, Leif Larsson, Bengt Jansson and Arne Carlsson. The league consisted of 14 teams (down from 19) resulting in only three divisions. Elit Vetlanda Speedway
Vetlanda Speedway were a motorcycle speedway team based in Vetlanda, Sweden. Earlier known as Njudungarna and VMS Elit, the club was formed in 1946, and arranged their first meeting three years later. In 2003 when the club was promoted to the top division of Swedish speedway league, the Elitserien Elitserien (literally, "the Elite League") is the name of several Swedish nationwide sport leagues. Indianerna
Indianerna (the Indians) are a Swedish motorcycle speedway team based in Kumla, Sweden. The club's official name is Kumla MSK and it was founded in 1936 which makes the club one of the oldest motorsport clubs in Sweden. Indianerna was one of the seven teams that competed in Sweden's first speedway league in 1948. The team has won the Swedish Speedway Team Championship two times, in 1990 and 1991. Vikingarna Speedway
Vikingarna () are a Swedish motorcycle speedway team based at the Örebro Motorstadion, 9 km west of Örebro, near Örebro Airport in Sweden. Season summary History 1950 to 1954 The beginning of competitive league speedway in Örebro can be traced back to the 1950 Swedish speedway season. A club called Vikingarna finished last out of four teams in the second division. However, the following season in 1951, was much improved to the degree that the team actually won the six team division. The team competed in the highest tier for the first time during the 1952 Swedish speedway season (called division 1 at the time) but struggled in the division and were eventually relegated. A young Göte Nordin rode for the club from 1952 to 1954 and he helped them win division 2 again in 1953. Bysarna
Bysarna were a Swedish motorcycle speedway team based at the Gamla Speedway Track, in Galgberget, north of Visby on the island of Gotland in Sweden. They were four times league champions of Sweden. Season summary History 1921 to 1951 The beginning of speedway in Visby can be traced back to November 1921 when the Gotland Motor Association was formed. Eight years later in 1929 the Gotland Motorcycle Club were riding dirt track races. A meeting was held at Gutavallen on 23 October and several other meetings took place at various venues before the war. After the war a suitable piece of land was acquired in Galgberget and the track was completed in 1951. 1967 to 1977 Although a track existed in Visby there was no team until 1967, when a team called Bysarna entered Division 3 east, during the 1967 Swedish speedway season. Göte Nordin
Göte Nordin (born 2 July 1935) is a former speedway rider from Sweden. Speedway career Nordin is a two times champion of Sweden, winning the Swedish Championship in 1965 and 1971. He reached the final of the Speedway World Championship on four occasions (1961, 1962, 1963 and 1966) finishing third in the 1961 Individual Speedway World Championship. He helped Sweden win the World Team Cup in 1962, 1963, 1964 and 1967. He won the Swedish League title on eight occasions with three clubs. He rode in the top tier of British Speedway from 1966 until 1972, riding for various clubs. The Swedish Speedway Team Championship is the team championship of speedway in Sweden. Season by season History The Championship was introduced in 1950. In 1982 the Championship was renamed with a new league called the Elitserien being introduced. previously the highest league had been known as the Allsvenskan but since 1982 it has been the second tier of Swedish speedway. Between 1986 and 1999 the team that finished top of the league were declared champions because there was no play off.
