1963–64 Balkans Cup
The 1963–64 Balkans Cup was an edition of the Balkans Cup, a football competition for representative clubs from the Balkan states. It was contested by 8 teams and Rapid București won the trophy. But as the dates get closer, they noticed it was almost impossible for the team to play the two games at those dates. They decided to send the substitute players to Tirana together with some youth team players. Their travel took longer than expected and the game was moved from 16 October to 17 October. The Balkans ( ), also known as the Balkan Peninsula, is a geographical area in southeastern Europe with various geographical and historical definitions. The region takes its name from the Balkan Mountains that stretch throughout the whole of Bulgaria. The Balkan Peninsula is bordered by the Adriatic Sea in the northwest, the Ionian Sea in the southwest, the Aegean Sea in the south, the Turkish Straits in the east, and the Black Sea in the northeast. Tirana ( , ; aln, Tirona) is the capital and largest city of Albania. Fudbalski klub Radnički (), commonly known as Radnički Niš ( sr-cyr, Раднички Ниш), is a professional football club based in ok Niš, Serbia. Hristo Iliev (footballer)
Hristo Bristov Iliev ( bg, Христо Бристов Илиев; 11 May 1936 – 24 March 1974) was a Bulgarian footballer. He played as a forward and spent the majority of his career with Levski Sofia. Iliev also represented Bulgaria at international level in the 1962 World Cup and in the men's tournament at the 1960 Summer Olympics, where Bulgaria did reach the 5th place in the final ranking. Iliev died in a car crash on 24 March 1974. Georgi Sokolov
Georgi Apostolov Sokolov ( bg, Георги Апостолов Соколов; 19 June 1942 - 27 June 2002) was a Bulgarian international footballer. A forward with remarkable ball control, imagination, dribbling skills and feints, Sokolov is regarded as one of the most talented Bulgarian footballers of all time. His father was the great Bulgarian goalkeeper Apostol Sokolov who was known as the first one to leave the goal line like modern keepers and was an inspiration for Lev Yashin.
