This is a list of members of the Western Australian Legislative Council from 22 May 1956 to 21 May 1958. The chamber had 30 seats made up of ten provinces each electing three members, on a system of rotation whereby one-third of the members would retire at each biennial election. Evan Davies (Western Australian Politician)
Evan Morris Davies (22 June 1892 – 10 April 1963) was an Australian trade unionist and politician who was a Labor Party member of the Legislative Council of Western Australia from 1947 until his death, representing West Province. Davies was born in Melbourne to Ann Elmira (née Davis) and John Morris Davies. He moved to Western Australia as a small child, and after leaving school began working for Western Australian Government Railways. Davies enlisted in the Australian Army in August 1917, and served in France with the 16th Battalion. He was discharged in September 1919, and subsequently returned to the railways. Davies became president of the Fremantle branch of the Locomotive Drivers, Firemen and Cleaners' Union, and in 1928 was elected to the Fremantle City Council, where he would serve for the rest of his life (including as deputy mayor for a period). George Jeffery (politician)
George Edward Jeffery (5 September 1920 – 24 July 1989) was an Australian politician who served as a Labor Party member of the Legislative Council of Western Australia from 1956 to 1962, representing Suburban Province. Jeffery was born in Tumby Bay, South Australia, to Mary Dora (née Fyfe) and Charles Victor Jeffery. His parents moved to Perth, Western Australia, when he was six, and he attended Perth Boys High School and Perth Technical School. Jeffery initially entered the police force, but later trained as a chemical plumber. He joined the Australian Army in 1941, and during the war served as a sapper with the Royal Australian Engineers. Jeffery returned to plumbing after leaving the military, and served on the executive of the Plumbers' Union. He was elected to parliament at the 1956 Legislative Council election, but served only a single six-year term before being defeated by Herbert Robinson at the 1962 election. Jack McIntosh Thomson (11 June 1907 – 19 June 1997) was an Australian politician who served as a Country Party member of the Legislative Council of Western Australia from 1950 to 1974, representing South Province. Thomson was born in Katanning, Western Australia, to Edith Maud (née Jenkinson) and Alexander Thomson. His father was also a member of parliament. Thomson boarded at Guildford Grammar School, Perth, and then followed his father into the building trade, eventually becoming a master builder. He lived in Albany, and served on the Albany Municipal Council from 1945 to 1951. Thomson entered parliament at the 1950 Legislative Council election.
