Robbie Van Leeuwen
Robbie van Leeuwen (born 29 October 1944) is a Dutch musician who was a guitarist, sitarist, background vocalist and main songwriter for Dutch bands, including The Motions and Shocking Blue. In 1967 he played guitar on the only single ever released by "The Six Young Riders" titled "Let the Circle Be Unbroken". As of January 2021, he is the only surviving member of Shocking Blue's best known four-piece lineup. Career In 1970 he was in the band Shocking Blue, which had a No. 1 hit with the single "Venus". In 1974 he left Shocking Blue and released the successful single "Long Hot Summer" with his new band Galaxy-Lin. He was the founder and main composer for this band which released two albums: "Galaxy Lin" in 1974 and "G" in 1975. The singer was Rudy Bennett, with whom van Leeuwen had already collaborated in another band, called The Motions. Galaxy-Lin disbanded in 1976. Jan Dijkema (born 23 September 1944) is a Dutch politician, sociologist and President of the International Skating Union. Career Dijkema studied sociology at the University of Groningen and was at the age of 32 in 1978 the youngest Member of the Dutch government. In the province of Overijssel he was then a Member of the provincial government for Economic Affairs as representative on behalf of the PvdA, where he was confronted with the restructuring of Twente after the textile crisis: "We were able to do a lot with European funds." In addition, Dijkema was closely involved in financing the IJsbaan Twente as a member of the recommendation committee. Frederik "Freek" Jan Georg de Jonge (born 30 August 1944) is a Dutch cabaret performer and writer. Biography Early life and career De Jonge was born in Westernieland as son of a pastor. Klaas De Vries (composer)
Klaas de Vries (born 15 July 1944) is a Dutch composer. De Vries taught composition at the Rotterdam Conservatory until his retirement in 2009. Biography Klaas de Vries was born on 15 July 1944 in Terneuzen, in the province of Zeeland in the Netherlands. From 1965 to 1972 he studied piano, theory and composition on the conservatory of Rotterdam. He continued studying composition from 1972 at the conservatory of The Hague with the Dutch composer , winning the composition prize there in 1974. After winning this prize de Vries studied with the Croatian composer Milko Kelemen in Stuttgart, Germany. De Vries won the Matthijs Vermeulen Award twice: in 1984 for his work ''discantus'' (1982) and in 1998 for his opera ''A King, Riding'' and the ''Interludium'' for string orchestra (1996).
