Philip Freriks (born 27 July 1944) is a Dutch journalist, columnist and television presenter. He is known for presenting the ''NOS Journaal NOS Journaal is the umbrella name for the news broadcasts of the Dutch public broadcaster NOS on radio and television. The division of the NOS responsible for gathering and broadcasting the news is known as ''NOS Nieuws'', and is based at the Med ...'' from 1996 until 2009. He also presented the '' Groot Dictee der Nederlandse Taal'' from 1990 until 2016 and in 2018. Freriks is also known as presenter of the television quiz show '' De Slimste Mens''. Also, he acted as the narrator in the 2012 edition of '' The Passion''. NOS Journaal
NOS Journaal is the umbrella name for the news broadcasts of the Dutch public broadcaster NOS on radio and television. The division of the NOS responsible for gathering and broadcasting the news is known as ''NOS Nieuws'', and is based at the Media Park in Hilversum; the NOS also has fully equipped radio and television studios in The Hague, from which political programmes are often produced. History On 5 January 1956, the Nederlandse Televise Stichting (Dutch Television Foundation, the forerunner of the NOS) broadcast the first ''NTS-journaal'' bulletin: initially, these were broadcast three times a week. Each edition lasted fifteen minutes, and had no presenter. Grand Dictation Of The Dutch Language
The Grand Dictation of the Dutch Language ( nl, Groot Dictee der Nederlandse Taal) was a televised spelling test for adults organized by the Belgian newspaper ''De Morgen'', the Dutch newspaper ''de Volkskrant'' and the Dutch public broadcaster NTR. In May 2017 it was announced no more dictations would be held due to the number of viewers strongly receding. From its first edition in 1990 through its final one in 2016, the Grand Dictation was held annually in December. Starting 1991, it was televised on Dutch and Dutch-language Belgian television. The Dictation was presented and read by Dutch former anchorman Philip Freriks. Since 2005 Freriks presented jointly with Belgian anchorwoman Martine Tanghe, except in 2011 when Tanghe was recovering from breast cancer. The Passion (Netherlands)
The Passion is a Dutch passion play, held every Maundy Thursday since 2011 in a different city each year. The event is broadcast live on Dutch television. In 2015 and 2018, it was broadcast on radio as well. The event began as a collaboration between the broadcasters EO and RKK. At present, it is mainly a joint effort between the broadcasters EO and KRO-NCRV. The participating organizations consider ''The Passion'' missionary work and they see it as a chance to promote Easter and Christianity in general. Creation The Dutch event and television program is partly inspired by the English local play ''Manchester Passion'', held on Good Friday and broadcast by the BBC Three. The production company Eye2Eye Media brought the event to the Netherlands. The first Dutch version was held at the market square in Gouda, with a live broadcast on national television on Maundy Thursday 2011. It proved successful and new editions followed thereafter.
