The 1920 Ljubljana Subassociation League was the first season of the Ljubljana Subassociation League. Ilirija won the league, becoming the first ever Slovenian champion. The league consisted of the Slovenian-based teams Ilirija, Slovan and I. SSK Maribor, while Rapid, Hertha and Rote Elf were German teams from Maribor, founded by the Germanic part of Maribor's population. Athletik was another German club, based in Celje. The Slovenian Republic Football League ( sl, Slovenska republiška nogometna liga) was the highest football league in Slovenia within the Yugoslav football system. During the time of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia it was known as the Ljubljana Subassociation League ( sl, Prvenstvo Ljubljanske nogometne podzveze) and was one of the qualifying tournaments for the Yugoslav Championship. During the time of Yugoslavia, it was a third level league for most of the time, but became a fourth level in 1988. ND Ilirija Ljubljana
Nogometno društvo Ilirija 1911 is a Slovenian football club from Ljubljana which competes in the Slovenian Second League. The club was founded in June 1911 and is the oldest still active football club in the country. History SK Ilirija (1911–1941) At the beginning of the 20th century, football came to Ljubljana from Vienna and was played mostly by the students. Football club Ilirija was founded on 9 June 1911 in a pub called Roža on Židovska cesta in Ljubljana. Albin Kandare was elected as the first president of Ilirija, and their first ground was at Tivoli Park. ND Slovan
Nogometno društvo Slovan or simply ND Slovan is a Slovenian football club based in Ljubljana that competes in the Slovenian Third League, the third tier of Slovenian football. The team play their home matches at the Kodeljevo Sports Park. The traditional colours of the club are red and white. History The club was founded in 1913 and has held its original name since then. They have won the Slovenian Republic League twice, in 1965 and 1983, and participated in the Yugoslav Second League in 1965–66 and 1983–84. Slovan also won the Slovenian Republic Cup in 1982. Sportvereinigung Rapid Marburg, commonly referred to as SV Rapid Marburg or simply Rapid, was a football club from Maribor. The club was founded in 1919 by the Germans of Maribor and was the five-time runner-up of the Ljubljana Subassociation League. History In late 1918, the first aspirations of founding a new German football club in Maribor have arisen. In March 1919, Sportvereinigung Rapid was officially founded with Franz Rueß becoming the first club president. When the Football Association of Yugoslavia was founded in April 1919, Rapid became one of the first clubs to join the association. After one year, Rueß resigned and was replaced by Walter Thalmann, who in January 1920 signed a contract with the Maribor's city authorities to obtain a football field at the Ljudski vrt area for the next ten years. Sportklub Rote Elf, commonly referred to as SK Rote Elf or SK Rdeča 11 in the Slovene-language newspapers, was a football club from Maribor. The club was founded in 1919 and competed in the first official season of the Slovenian football, the 1920 Ljubljana Subassociation League. It was renamed to MAK in 1921, before disbanding in 1923. Maribor ( , , , ; also known by other #Name, historical names) is the second-largest city in Slovenia and the largest city of the traditional region of Styria (Slovenia), Lower Styria. Nogometni klub Celje ( en, Celje Football Club), commonly referred to as NK Celje or simply Celje (), is an association football club from Celje, Slovenia. They play in the Slovenian PrvaLiga.
