SK Rote Elf
Sportklub Rote Elf, commonly referred to as SK Rote Elf or SK Rdeča 11 in the Slovene-language newspapers, was a football club from Maribor. The club was founded in 1919 and competed in the first official season of the Slovenian football, the 1920 Ljubljana Subassociation League. It was renamed to MAK in 1921, before disbanding in 1923. History The club known as the Rote Elf already existed prior the World War I, and was one of the two major German sports clubs in the city of Maribor at the time; the other being Marburger Sportvereinigung. After the war, in 1919, the club was reestablished. It remained faithful to its pre-war principles, as the club was non-nationalistic and was based on Austro-Marxism, and is one of the first workers' clubs in the area of Slovene lands. Ljudski vrt ( en, People's Garden) is a football stadium in Maribor, Slovenia, which has a seating capacity of 11,671. It has been the home of NK Maribor since their formation in 1960, with the exception of a short period in early 1961. It was originally the home of several other football teams based in Maribor, including Rapid and Branik. A prominent feature of the stadium is the main grandstand with a concrete arch, which is protected by the Institute for the Protection of Cultural Heritage of Slovenia as an architectural and historical landmark. The stadium has four stands: South Stand, East Stand, North Stand, and Marcos Tavares Stand (formerly West Stand). The record attendance of 20,000 was set at a match between Maribor and Proleter in 1973, which was before the ground's conversion to an all-seater stadium in 1998. Slovenian Republic Football League
The Slovenian Republic Football League ( sl, Slovenska republiška nogometna liga) was the highest football league in Slovenia within the Yugoslav football system. During the time of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia it was known as the Ljubljana Subassociation League ( sl, Prvenstvo Ljubljanske nogometne podzveze) and was one of the qualifying tournaments for the Yugoslav Championship. During the time of Yugoslavia, it was a third level league for most of the time, but became a fourth level in 1988. SV Rapid Marburg
Sportvereinigung Rapid Marburg, commonly referred to as SV Rapid Marburg or simply Rapid, was a football club from Maribor. The club was founded in 1919 by the Germans of Maribor and was the five-time runner-up of the Ljubljana Subassociation League. History In late 1918, the first aspirations of founding a new German football club in Maribor have arisen. In March 1919, Sportvereinigung Rapid was officially founded with Franz Rueß becoming the first club president. When the Football Association of Yugoslavia was founded in April 1919, Rapid became one of the first clubs to join the association. Nogometno društvo Slovan or simply ND Slovan is a Slovenian football club based in Ljubljana that competes in the Slovenian Third League, the third tier of Slovenian football. The team play their home matches at the Kodeljevo Sports Park. The traditional colours of the club are red and white. History The club was founded in 1913 and has held its original name since then.
