1899 Cork Senior Hurling Championship
The 1899 Cork Senior Hurling Championship was the 13th staging of the Cork Senior Hurling Championship since its establishment by the Cork County Board in 1887. Blackrock were the defending champions, however, they were defeated by Ballyhea. On 6 August 1899, St. Finbarr’s won the championship following an 0-8 to 0-7 defeat of Redmonds in the final. This was their first championship title. James Norman Young (born June 6, 1943) is a former professional American football and Canadian football player. Young played running back and wide receiver for the NFL's Minnesota Vikings for two seasons (1965–66), and the CFL's BC Lions for thirteen seasons (1967–79). Young is a member of Canada's Sports Hall of Fame, the Canadian Football Hall of Fame, the BC Sports Hall of Fame, and the Queen's University Football Hall of Fame. Redmonds GAA
Redmonds is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in Cork in County Cork, Ireland. The club is situated in Tower Street, on the southside of the city. The club participates in Cork GAA competitions and in Seandún divisional board competitions. The club no longer fields hurling teams but continues to participate in the Seandun junior C football competitions. History Redmonds GAA have been in the Senior Hurling Championship Finals 10 times from their first finals appearance in 1892 to their last finals appearance in 1927. Tom Irwin (dual Player)
Thomas Irwin (1 July 1873 – 22 February 1956) was an Irish people, Irish Gaelic footballer, hurling, hurler, referee and Gaelic games administrator who played in various positions for both Cork GAA, Cork senior teams. One of the earliest dual players at the highest levels, he first played in All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship 1892, 1892 and was a regular member of both teams until his retirement in All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship 1902, 1902. He won one All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship, All-Ireland hurling medal, three Munster Senior Hurling Championship, Munster hurling medals and three Munster Senior Football Championship, Munster football medals. At club level Irwin was a multiple county club championship medalist with Redmonds GAA, Redmond's and Nils GAA, Nils. The Cork Premier Senior Hurling Championship (known for sponsorship reasons as the Co-Op Superstores Cork Premier Senior Hurling Championship and abbreviated to the Cork PSHC) is an annual club hurling competition organised by the Cork County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association and contested by the top-ranking senior clubs and amalgamated teams in the county of Cork in Ireland, deciding the competition winners through a group and knockout format. It is the most prestigious competition in Cork hurling. Blackrock National Hurling Club is a Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) club located on the southside of Cork City, Ireland. The club was founded in 1883 and is primarily concerned with the game of hurling. No other Cork-based GAA club has won more Senior County Hurling titles or All-Ireland Club Championships. Ballyhea GAA
Ballyhea GAA is a hurling club in the village of Ballyhea in Cork, Ireland. The club is affiliated to the Avondhu, division of Cork GAA. As of 2015, the club was competing in the Cork Senior Hurling Championship. It does not field Gaelic football teams. History Ballyhea GAA Club has been in existence for over 126 years. The history of the club published in 1984 say the first GAA meeting took place in Jim Powers's Forge in the townland of Pruntas in late 1885 or early 1886. During its history the club has won County Championships in Senior, Intermediate, Junior and Juvenile Hurling.
