The 1898 Cork Senior Hurling Championship was the 12th staging of the Cork Senior Hurling Championship since its establishment by the Cork County Board in 1887. Blackrock were the defending champions. On 11 September 1898, Blackrock won the championship following a 2–9 to 0–2 defeat of Carrigtwohill in the final. This was their eighth championship title overall and their second title in succession. Blackrock GAA
Blackrock National Hurling Club is a Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) club located on the southside of Cork City, Ireland. The club was founded in 1883 and is primarily concerned with the game of hurling. No other Cork-based GAA club has won more Senior County Hurling titles or All-Ireland Club Championships. The club is sometimes known as 'The Rockies'. History Blackrock Hurling Club was officially founded in 1883, one year before the foundation of the Gaelic Athletic Association itself. Pat Coughlan
Pat "Parson" Coughlan (born 23 August 1867) was an Irish hurler who played as a left wing-back for the Cork senior team. Coughlan joined the team during the 1891 championship and was a regular member of the starting fifteen until his retirement after the 1899 championship. During that time he won two All-Ireland medals and two Munster medals. At club level Coughlan was an eight-time county club championship medalist with Blackrock. Playing career Club Coughlan played his club hurling with the Blackrock GAA club in Cork and enjoyed much success. He won his first senior county title in 1887 as 'the Rockies' captured the very first Cork county title. Coughlan added further county titles to his collection in 1889 and 1891. The Cork Premier Senior Hurling Championship (known for sponsorship reasons as the Co-Op Superstores Cork Premier Senior Hurling Championship and abbreviated to the Cork PSHC) is an annual club hurling competition organised by the Cork County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association and contested by the top-ranking senior clubs and amalgamated teams in the county of Cork in Ireland, deciding the competition winners through a group and knockout format. It is the most prestigious competition in Cork hurling. Aghabullogue GAA
Aghabullogue GAA are a Gaelic Athletic Association club in County Cork, Ireland. They are affiliated to the Cork County Board and play in the mid-Cork (Muskerry) division of Cork GAA. Aghabullogue cater for both hurling and Gaelic football. History Aghabullogue have a long tradition of hurling. In 1890, they won the Cork Senior Hurling Championship. By the rules of the GAA at that time, this victory allowed Aghabullogue to go on and represent Cork in the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship. They later collected a Munster title following a victory over Kerry. There was controversy in the subsequent All-Ireland final when an Aghabullogue men left the field after one of the players had his toe broken by a Wexford man's hurley.
