Nordstrom, Inc. () is an American luxury department store chain headquartered in Seattle, Washington, and founded by John W. Nordstrom and Carl F. Wallin in 1901. The original Wallin & Nordstrom store operated exclusively as a shoe store, and a second Nordstrom's shoe store opened in 1923. The growing Nordstrom Best chain began selling clothing in 1963, and became the Nordstrom full-line retailer that presently exists by 1971. Emma Fürstenhoff
Emilia "Emma" Fürstenhoff, née ''Lindegren'' (1802 – March 1871), was a Swedish artist (florist), internationally known for her manufacturing and arrangements of artificial flowers of wax, which were a novelty in contemporary Europe. Life Emma Fürstenhoff was born in Stockholm, the daughter of the poet and royal secretary Carl Johan Lindegren (d. 1815) and the noble Sofia Silfverskiöld. Both she and her mother was the subject of her father's poems. Her father later became an alcoholic and was ruined, her parents divorced, and she moved to the capital with her mother. She displayed an early interest in flowers, and when she left her father's property with her mother, it is said that she asked her mother to bring all the flowers with them. In Stockholm, she became the fosterchild of a mamsell Forslöf, lady in waiting to Princess Sophie Albertine of Sweden. She was described as brilliant and passionate. Anna Sundström
Anna Sundström, born as ''Anna Christina Persdotter'' (26 February 1785 in Kymlinge, Spånga – 1871), was a Swedish chemist. She was the assistant of the chemist Jöns Jacob Berzelius from 1808 to 1836. Anna Sundström has been referred to as the first female chemist in Sweden. Biography Anna Persdotter was the daughter of the farmer Per Jansson, and later took the name Sundström. Early on, she moved to the capital to serve as a maid, and was in 1808 employed as the Housekeeper (domestic worker), housekeeper of Jöns Jacob Berzelius, who was regarded as one of the fathers of modern chemistry. She acted effectively as his assistant and co worker during his research. During her work she was educated in chemistry and acquired a vast knowledge within it. Berzelius stated : "She is used to all my equipment and their names to such a degree that I could without hesitation make her distill Hydrochloric acid." Louise of the Netherlands (Wilhelmina Frederika Alexandrine Anna Louise; 5 August 1828 – 30 March 1871) was Queen of Sweden and Norway from 8 July 1859 until her death in 1871 as the wife of King Charles XV & IV. Youth Princess Louise was born on 5 August 1828 in The Hague. Her father was Prince Frederick of the Netherlands, the second child of King William I of the Netherlands and Wilhelmina of Prussia. Her mother Louise was the eighth child of King Frederick William III of Prussia and Louise of Mecklenburg-Strelitz. Her education was to large extent entrusted to her Belgian governess Victoire Wauthier, and she studied French, German, English, Russian and piano. Anna Sofia Sevelin née Thunberg (23 July 1790 – 25 February 1871) was a Swedish opera singer (alto). She was a ''Hovsångare'' and a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Arts. Life Anna Sofia Sevelin was the daughter of the church musician Olof Thunberg. She married the ballet dancer and actor Per Erik Sevelin in 1813. She was enrolled as a student at the Royal Dramatic Training Academy in 1806. She made her debut in 1807, and was engaged as a singer at the Royal Swedish Opera in 1813–37. Sevelin also made tours abroad, and performed in Copenhagen and Hamburg. Anna Sofia Sevelin was given good reviews as a singer. Her voice is described as a deep alto, which changed to a soprano with time. However, critics claimed that she lacked acting ability, and that she always performed on the stage as if she performed on a concert.
